the girl on the curb

She was in her truck looking at the school waiting for the little girl to come outside with her little black sweatshirt, and little black jeans, with her little black converse, and her little Batman bookbag.
And as she saw her, standing on the curb waiting for her mum to come pick her up and take her home, she saw herself. She saw herself, standing on that same curb, watching all the other little kids, so happy to see their mums after school. And she had to walk up the hill to the orphanage, all by herself after she couldn't stand there and watch the kids. She always stood there watching them until she almost cried, and then that's when she started walking. She had no mum to come and pick her up from school, and she didn't have any friends to walk to the orphanage with either, because nobody wanted to be friends with a girl mechanical prodigy that liked fixing things.
That's what she saw as she sat in her truck, looking at the little girl standing on the curb. As tears ran down her face, she drove away.

Happy woke herself up crying that night, and of course her shrink fiancé was right there to comfort her, as she cried into his shirt.
She woke with blurred vision from her tears. And when she rubbed her eyes, all it did was make them itch. When Toby heard her, he instantly woke up. He sat up and turned the light on, and scooted closer to her as she sat up as well. And if they sat any closer, she'd be sitting on him.
She rested her head on his shoulder and just cried.
That's all she could do.
Just cry.
When she finally explained it, he said, the same thing he said at the garage that night, "We will have a family" and she didn't know if she believed that or not, until their kiss 'accidentally' became more than just a kiss.

Sorry for it being short guys. I really wanted to get it done tonight, but I was so tired because I haven't gotten more than 3 hours of sleep all weekend, so I just went with it.
