Dear Steve,

We're pushing further into Austria tomorrow. Off to kill some more Nazis if they don't kill us..

Steve, whatever happens, I need you to stay in Brooklyn. I need you to be there if .. when I get back. Stop enlisting! War isn't like the movies.

Take care of yourself and don't forget the asthma pills. I'll see you soon.

I want to go home.

I miss you

Yours,

James Buchanan Barnes

Steve tucked the old letter safely into his coat pocket. He only felt a little guilty for enlisting and for taking the serum. But he wanted to fight for his country in the war, and he wanted to fight alongside Bucky.

When he finally got to be in the army, the news that the 107th had been captured hit hard in Steve's heart.

Steve was determined to go after Bucky. He was determined that nothing was going to get in his way. He had to know whether or not his boy was alive, and he was going to find out one way or another.

It was this attitude he took with him while leaping out of the plane and hurtling down onto the grounds of the Hydra base.

Steve knew how dangerous it was intruding on enemy territory alone, but he didn't let his anxious mind stop him.

As he snuck through crates and machinery, his heart pounded.

He was anxious to know whether or not Bucky was alive. He crept on, sneaking through the base until he got to the cells where the war prisoners would be kept.

Steve threw his shield and took out the two Hydra soldiers on guard. Then, he peered into the cell full of men.

"Who are you supposed to be?" One man asks incredulously.

Steve let out a small sigh; the red, white, and blue uniform must be a sight to see for these men. "I'm Captain America."

Steve unlocks the cell and lets out the soldiers. They follow him down the corridor as he unlocks more cells.

"I'm looking for a Sergeant James Barnes, is he here?" Steve asks as the soldiers follow quickly behind him.

"There's an isolation ward in the factory. No one's ever come back from it." One soldier replies.

"Alright." Steve nods. "The treeline is northwest. It's eighty yards past the gate. Get out fast and give them hell. I'll meet you guys in the clearing with anybody else I can find."

"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" A man asks as Steve marches straight on through the corridor.

"Yeah, I've knocked out Adolf Hitler over two hundred times." Steve replies as he jogs away.

Steve made it quickly to the isolation ward. As he ventured further in, he could hear the sounds of battle outside, and he hoped with everything in him that the men he rescued had the upper hand.

As Steve rounds the corner, a short man exits a room quickly. He takes one look at Steve and rushes away, tugging along a large brief case.

Something told Steve that the room the man exited held something important, so he dashed towards the door and slipped inside.
