as much as i wanted to head to bed i politely bid the others a good night. after doing this, my father pulled me over for a talk.
"clarke, we need to talk about the ceremony-"
"father, I don't want to be wed yet. I do not know anyone I love. the situation is stressing me out. goodnight, father."
he took my arm and turned me around while i was about to leave.
"you need to find a prince."
"do i really NEED to though? i'm only 17 years old, it's not my time."
"you're my only child! and you need a good husband and children- my legacy will be passed, you will be the new queen."
"i don't want that, Father. i want to be normal like the others. i feel ... labeled."
"you should appreciate your royalty. now, go to bed as tomorrow we will set up a ball for you to find your prince. goodnight."
i sighed. "goodnight."
i dismiss myself and go to my room. the stress crept into my heart as i tried to fall asleep. because of this it was really hard to rest. i decided to look out the window and admire the beauty of nature. The forest, yes, was a very calming sight. the rolling hills and oak trees relieved my stress; it was a therapeutic sight.
but, what is that?
there was someone outside. In the wood. i cannot see their face; they had a hood draping over their face, and was riding a black horse.
i wasn't sure if they were supposed to be there or not. I decided I was going to investigate. I put on a coat and shoes and left my room. I walked silently, and left the castle.who was out there? and - were they a threat?
