i walked into the woods. as i got closer to the mysterious figure, i could see them more clearly. the person had a bow strung over their shoulder, along with a enveloped basket of arrows. some were different shapes, but i did not want to know their shape; this person could be a threat.

nervousness crept up my throat as i was close enough to talk.

"excuse me?"

the person turned, quickly retreaving their bow and an arrow from their back and aiming it at my heart, which pounded in fear.

"relax i- i come in peace. you may know me, i don't know. i'm the princes of this kindgom. well- who said i wanted to be."

the person lowered their weapon and strung it around their back.

the person finally spoke.

"skaikru?"

it wasn't a man. it was a woman, with a strong beautiful voice. it was demanding, but so soothing at the same time. something i can't explain.

"yes." i reply.

the woman removed their hood. and at that moment, i didn't believe reality. i saw beautiful green eyes staring at me, so gently. her pink lips curled into a smile, revealing the small crinkles under her eyes. her hair was so brown, it reminded me of the rare tress around the same woods i always knew. she was the most beautiful thing i've seen in the world, so pure, so... different.

she smirked, noticing me staring. "like what you see?"

"yes. i mean- well-"

"don't worry, i like what i see too." she smiled and winked. my cheeks turn a shade darker.

"uh- what are you doing out here?"

she smiled. i liked her smile.

"i'm a huntress, clarke. you don't see me around your kingdom because i'm the person who hunts all the food."

"oh. well, thanks for your service."

she laughed. it was a beautiful sound.

"ah don't worry about it."

i smiled. she got off her horse, still holding onto the reigns.

"what's a beautiful princess like you doing in these woods?"

the blush reaches my cheeks yet again.

"oh, i was just making sure your weren't a threat. there's one on these walls, have you heard?"

her eyebrows furrowed. "i've heard, but not that much."

i nodded.

she sat on the grass and patted the spot next to her. i sat down immediately, i wanted to know her, maybe. it was a weird feeling.

"what's your name?" i asked.

she smiled and looked at me.

"lexa woods. and you're clarke of the skaikru?"

"yes. but you can just call me clarke. clarke griffin."

"you don't like being called by your royal name?"

i shook my head. "i wish i was not labeled as i am. i just wish i was someone in the crowd, not someone everyone fears for respect."

she smiled. "i understand."

i looked at her. "really? because lots of people get angry at me for saying that."

she shook her head. "why would i? it's not bad to feel a way you shouldn't."

she looked at me, her eyes, so gentle.

"do you like being a huntress?" i asked, breaking the silence.

"yes. it's really calming for me, i don't really have anything else to do. and i can imagine you, always busy."

"yes. it's a lot of work. my father wants me to have a lover already. it bothers me."

she looked at me, her eyebrows furrowed and she tilted her head. it was cute.

"in your opinion, what is love?"

her gentle eyes turned sad, what ever came to her head began to fight its way to her eyes. i softened as they dampened, just a little.

"love is when you care about someone and want to spend your life with them. love is when you want to make sure a person is okay, and always happy. love is when you realize you can't live without a certain person. love- can be just a simple person."

she nodded and smiled, her beautiful lips trembling.

"are you okay?"

"yes. and i agree- that is love. and if you are wed with someone you don't love, it's unfair for you and them." she looked at me, "make sure you find the right person."

i smiled. "i will."

i looked at the sky. the sun was coming up, it was past midnight, another day.

"well, i should be going. it's getting early, my father doesn't want me out." i sighed.

we stood up.

she smiled, "it was nice meeting you clarke."

"nice meeting you, too." we gripped forearms.

"um, there's this ball tomorrow. and i was wondering maybe- if you weren't hunting, can you come?"

she smiled and her eyes sparkled. "i'll try to be there. thank you for inviting me."

i nodded and smiled. "goodbye."

"goodbye."

we gripped forearms again and beamed at each other, and i went back to the kingdom as fast as i could.

hopefully lexa is in the woods this evening again.
