"lexa?"

lexa smiled at me, eyes full of triumph. she walked down the steps to my cell, the smile never leaving her face. i couldn't believe this. i thought i trusted her.

"clarke, because you were weak around me it made yourself vulnerable. now you're trapped in my kingdom. there's nothing you can do."

"weak? i don't understand!"

"love is weakness," there was anger and sadness in her words. for a second, it sounded like the lexa i knew.

i scoffed. "i don't have feelings for you. you're not a friend. i hate you. you betrayed me." venom in my words.

for a second, i swear i saw the vulnerable girl i used to know. her eyes turned soft, sad, guilty. she then put her mask back on, and I had no idea what she felt anymore.

"so, i'm just going to stay here? forever?"

"yes."

tears filled my eyes. i wouldn't be able to see my friends, my family, everyone at the kingdom. my kingdom. since i am away, now i realize how important they are to me. i'm never going to see them again, am i?

i turned away from lexa. i couldn't look at her, not after what she did. i was so angry, so disappointed. so sad. i faced the wall, sitting on my rotten mattress.

i heard lexa say to her guards, "leave us."

i heard them walk out the room, I turned around.

lexa looked into my eyes. "i'm sorry it had to be this way."

"no, you're not. what do you want from me?"

"you- you're kingdoms power." she stuttered, and i cocked my head. "with the princess in our walls, they'll start a war. they're already after us, clarke. you must stay here, we don't want you injured."

"why? you don't care, do you?"

"i do care, clarke."

"then why am i trapped? i don't understand. and- where is this anyway?"

"this is the kingdom of trikru. it's one of the 12 clans in the grounder coalition. i'm the commander of all the clans, clarke."

"what does that have to do with me?"

"they wanted you to join the coalition. a few years ago, your father disagreed and betrayed us. now, the people want your head so they can start a war, destroying your clan."

guards came in before i could reply. they said something to lexa in her language. her eyes looked surprised, and she nodded. they left.

"clarke. your father is dead."

my heart seemed to stop at that moment. it couldn't be. i lost my father. the only one in my family left. the king, my hero. the one i loved. he's gone.

forever.

my eyes filled with tears. "what- what happened?"

lexa looked almost sorry, taking off her mask to reveal her emotion, "my army killed him."

i turned away and put my head into the mattress and sobbed.

"clarke-"

"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!"

and before i fell asleep in frustration and anger, i swear i saw lexa walk out with tears in her eyes.
