i had just a few hours of sleep. i hoped my father wouldn't notice how tired i was from last night.

lexa.

what was it about her, i wanted to know her so much? i just wanted her to be here all day, with me. there was something so comforting about her. i wanted her touch, her comforting eyes. but what was that feeling called?

i shook my head and got changed as quickly as i could. i went outside to bid the people well.

our kingdom was truly beautiful. the border walls were about 35 feet high, the door made out of pure gold. the chains to open them were made of pure steel, and so were the gears. as for the land, it was pure green, perfectly cut grass, and three flower gardens. the gardens were something i had requested as princess; the only thing. the castle was huge; the biggest in the world. it was all black, with a pure gold outline. there were workshops all around the kingdom grounds, vending food, tools, and other goods. the people here were so kind and giving, and so was the government, lucky enough.

my father found me quickly and greeted me with a nod. i nodded back, trying to avoid him, but her got closer. i could tell from his eyes he was worried.

"clarke? you look very tired. also- you said you didn't find a lover, so i found one for you!"

my heart stopped. oh no.

my father looked truly happy. i knew this was not going to go well but i went along with it.

"oh um, thanks... who is it?"

he moved aside, revealing a tall, slender man with a happy look on his face. he had shaggy, long hair and a broad face. i don't think i've seen him before.

he grinned, "hey, i'm finn, your future husband."

my father laughed, and i pretended to.

"hi. im clarke." i said with no emotion.

we gripped forearms and i won't deny that i was uncomfortable. his touch was so rough, so demanding, so expectant. unlike... lexa's.

gods, i missed her.

my father spoke, "he's a tracker. he helps us track danger. a good man."

"cool."

my father looked so happy. poor him. i don't really like finn. he's too straight forward.

"well, i'm going to walk around, bye finn, and father."

"bye clarke." finn smirked, "see you at the ball tomorrow." he winked. i rolled my eyes.

"whatever."

after everyone was sure asleep, at midnight, i went to talk to lexa. i smiled, waiting to rant about the boy i was "paired"'with. she would laugh and tell me, "you don't need him." i hope she would not be mad for me not liking him. i slipped out into the woods, on the search for lexa.

no matter where i looked, i couldn't find her. where was she? wasn't she supposed to be hunting? i was worried. oh, so worried. i waited outside for what seems like hours. she still didn't come.

disappointed, i went back to my room. is it bad that it's only been a day, and i missed her? so much? i just wanted to be with her, feel her presence, feel her breathing. i wanted to stare into those eyes i get lost in. but i don't understand:

what was this feeling?
