The Unlikely Event of Falling in Love

The Park

The date went great! It wasn't awkward at all and the food was amazing. We chatted about everything and he would not stop complimenting me. He was a true gentleman and my favorite locker buddy. School got canceled on Monday due to the principal getting fired. I didn't know the details but I didn't care. I have been texting Ethan every day making sure we keep a good relationship. I know that sounds creepy but this friendship or whatever we have going on is amazing. The next 3 months of school went by pretty fast. I spent most of my time walking from class to class with Ethan. I didn't really know what we were but there was some strong chemistry. I would always catch him staring at me in Spanish. He also fit right into my friend group. This year is going great so far and I never thought I would find someone like Ethan.

It was Saturday and it was a really pretty day. I went to the park right by Luke's basketball tournament and watched. I would always take him to basketball practice and events. It was our little tradition. Luke is already 12, I can't believe it. I remember when he was only 2 spitting his food everywhere. I sat on the bench watching as a familiar presence covered my eyes. I squirmed a little until Ethan said hey. "Oh, my gosh Ethan that scared me what are you doing here, I asked in shock. "I remember you telling me Luke had a basketball game so I came to keep you company," he said with a grin. "Well thank you," I said with a smile. "Besides I don't want any other guys hitting on you," he said as if we were in a relationship. "Oh jealous much. You must be into me huh" I said laughing. "Oh yeah I totally am," he said. I think he realized what he said because his face looked like he saw a ghost. I kind of just looked at him and I couldn't stop myself from giving him the biggest smile. Then stupid me had to ruin the moment and drop my phone on the ground. I went to pick it up but so did he and before I knew it I could feel his breath on my face. We stopped and looked each other in the eye. I didn't know if this was the moment I was supposed to laugh and come up but I didn't want too. The opportunity will slip away and as I was about to lean in and kiss him he beat me to it. He pressed his lips against mine. I deepened the kiss and slowly bent back up. With our lips still locked, he cupped my face and slowly removed his lips from mine. When he saw me he brushed my hair behind my ears and smiled. I was still comprehending what just happened and how amazing that moment was. All I could think was Finally. He kissed my cheek and whispered in my ear "I'll see you tomorrow". I sat there in shock then turned around and watched him leave. I couldn't stop myself from getting way too excited.
