Summer sped by in my easy routine and before I knew it, it was already fall. I started hanging out with Steele more, so he was becoming one of my routines. Well, at least when it comes to coffee or evening drinks. It kinda helped me to not think about Van.
"So, I'll pick you up at 8 tonight, as usual?" Steele grinned, leaning against the mirror in one of the changing rooms at Urban Outfitters as he watched me hang some clothes on a rack.
"Hmm, Georgina said she'll be going to Bizarre tonight. So, I'm guessing she wants me to leave with her?"
"That's cool. I'll pick up the both of you then," Steele offered, folding both of his arms, smiling.
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay. I'll see you at 8 then," I smiled. "Thank you."
"My pleasure," he chuckled, gesturing a bow.
Bizarre was unusually packed that night but Steele somehow managed to get us a table and we immediately ordered our usuals. Georgina left the two of us alone as soon as a guy at the bar offered to buy her a drink.
"Everybody loves Georgina," I told Steele, glancing over at the blonde beauty flirting with the guy she just met.
"Why so?" Steele tilted his head at me, his eyebrows brunched together.
"I mean, just look at her. Any guy would want to tap that," I laughed, gesturing at Georgina's figure.
"Not everyone," Steele looked at me thoughtfully for a moment, before he looked down, chuckling. He looked like he was deciding whether or not to tell me something. Suddenly, he looked back at me, shaking his head a little and asked me, "Do you want another beer?"
I smiled warmly at him and nodded. I then watched the crowd while we waited for our drinks. It felt a bit odd to sit in public alone with Steele, because Lexy and Lucas would usually join us but they were nowhere to be found. Steele looked nervous himself. Like he was constantly chewing on his words. I kinda thought it was cute that he was nervous to be sitting with me. Steele was such a pleasant guy to be around with - always so polite, funny and thoughtful. Just some of the criteria I noticed.
Lexy and Lucas finally made their almost nightly appearance at Bizarre later that night. I could see a couple of hickeys on Lexy's neck and I instantly knew why they were late.
"Sorry," Lucas chuckled. "We were caught up."
Lexy was flushing in her seat and I looked at her knowingly, making her flushed even more.
"Where's George?" She asked.
"I think she just left with some guy," I told her.
"Oh, so you two are alone when we were not around?" Lexy smirked at me.
"I hope we are not interrupting you two," Lucas grinned at Steele.
"No! I mean... No... Not at all," I flushed. Steele instantly laughed at my reaction, shaking his head. I suddenly remembered that my bladder needed to be emptied, so I excused myself from them to go to the bathroom. When I was done emptying my bladder, I looked over at my friends who were so engrossed in talking to each other, so I thought it'd be a perfect timing for me to step out of the bar for a minute or two so I could smoke. It was a habit I picked up a couple of months ago since smoking eased down my anxiety a bit.
