I spent a lot of time alone that week. Well, not entirely alone. Larry and my band was always with me, since we were all in a band and roommates and all. We weren't playing any shows, but we still had a couple of interviews, meetings with the label and radio shows to finish. Maybe alone in terms of not seeing Brynn, I guess? I haven't seen her since she was discharged from the hospital. I just didn't want to.

The studio at our record label was frigid when I stepped inside it. My band just finished a meeting with Neil, to discuss on our summer tour plans and recording sessions for album number two. Our hard work finally paid off and we were finally getting the recognition that we deserved.

"Close the door," I told Larry.

"Are you really gonna smoke in here?" Larry shot me a glance.

"Yep," I chuckled, taking a lighter out of my back pocket and lit up my last roll of joint.

"Oi! Neil is going to kill you if he ever finds out!" Larry tried to yank the smoke away from me.

"I am the lead singer of his band. He won't kill me. Can't sell anything without me," I laughed, feeling slightly jaded after inhaling a load of smoke in.

"You"ll trigger the alarm," Larry said, starting to look impatient with me.

"Come on, mate. Don't ruin this," I gestured at him. "I need to relax. You need to relax.... We've been touring for months now. Stop nagging my ass and just let me enjoy this moment," I laughed.

"How high are you?" Larry chuckled, finally resigning from making me stop.

"Not high enough, my friend. I am on a ship that sails through the Hudson river and it ain't sinking, unicorn and shit," I smiled.

"Okay. Whatever you say, Van," Larry shook his head, plonking himself on the sofa and lifted his legs up to table.

"Want some?" I offered him.

"Why the fuck not. I need to lose a couple of days myself," he laughed, as he caught a load of smoke in himself. I watched the smoke escaped his mouth, enjoying how light my head felt. He passed the joint back to me and I finished it all to myself without realizing it.

"I can't fucking wait to be back home," I muttered. Larry looked at me, confused, like he was surprised that I could not wait to come home. "What?" I asked him.

"Aren't you gonna tell her that you're leaving?" He scratched his head.

"Who?" I pretended to ask.

"Brynn, mate. Your girlfriend...."

"I don't have the time to think about that...."

"Come on, lad. She needs you," he said with furrowed brows.

"Ah! Larry is now the love guru," I laughed.

"I am fucking serious," Larry maintained his expression.

"I don't see the point. I am not going to see her again when we head home anyway," I pursed my lips while my fingers fondled the necklace around my neck. "And she'll be like what? A few hours behind. It'll be a struggle."

"Are you saying that you don't want to be with her anymore?" Larry asked.

"Maybe," I bit my lip. "I just don't see the point of being together anymore.
