Chapter four

Couple of weeks has passed after the celebration dinner and till now i cannot understand the way he treated me. From what i've heard, Kevin Jacobs is not a nice man, he does not joke with his employees, he does not care if they eat healthy or no, he does not care if they get home safely, he does not offer to drive them home. I'm still blaming my brain for rejecting the offer by the way especially that since that dinner Kevin has been extremely serious with me, no staring, no jokes, no half smiles not even shadows of smiles.

I started to think that maybe he was just being nice to a woman who happens to be working in his company, maybe i over thought his actions. However Sofia thinks that he is interested in me. She has known him for quite a while and assured me that the one time she saw him being nice to a woman was a year ago when he was madly in love with the top model from the charity event. These words were not comforting me at all, instead they hurt me because there was nothing i can do, it is not like i can throw myself at him, or ask him on date or even joke with him when things between us are pretty serious now.

So the best thing to do was to stay away from him, but the one thing I could not avoid is the awkward encounter in the elevator almost every day in the morning. We both are the first to come to work so out of five days a week I would run into him at least three days. This encounter usually goes this way: he catches me pressing the elevator button, he stands next to me saying a serious ‘Good morning’ without even looking at me, when the elevator arrives to our level he holds it for me to enter and once we’re in each one holds his cell phone and starts scrolling until we reach the 78th level where we go on separate ways. These encounters are by far the most awkward of my life, in addition to some rare moments where we have to actually work together but in these times, I keep Sofia next to me.

It’s been a month since Kevin moved in here and I have no idea how I managed to keep sane all this time, especially after ‘the moments’ we had, but all this time my mind was full of just one thing ‘Kevin Jacobs’.

One day, as I was walking in the reception area of the company, I saw the top model from the charity event walking in Kevin’s office, and after my secret investigation I knew that he cancelled all his morning meetings and locked himself with her in that office. Only God knows what is happening between behind those walls. The thought of it makes me want to scream and cry, I knew I had something developed towards him but I didn’t know how big it was until I felt this unbearable jealousy. I felt betrayed all I wanted to do is to open his office’s door and yell at him for being so perfect, for making me fall for him while he is obviously still in love with this gorgeous woman.

I had to drift my mind from him so I asked Sofia if she can manages me a dinner or something with her boyfriend’s roommate Mathew. Mathew is tall man, sexy as hell and has the body of yet another Greek god. I make sure that most of my boyfriends or the guys I go out with are really handsome, I am not arrogant it is just that I like to wake up next to sexy men so I start my day with a huge smile on my face.

Sofia and I agreed on going out for some drinks on a Friday night with Christian, her boyfriend, and Mathew. I decided to keep my outfit casual, nothing too flashy yet nothing too ‘nunny’ so I wore a casual red dress, a few inches above the knee with my black stilettos and a black jacket. Around 9:30 Sofia and Chris picked me up and headed to a pub where Mathew was waiting for us. He really is something!  He was a wearing a jeans with a white slim fit shirt and a gray leather jacket, I almost felt my mouth watering at the sight of this sexy figure. Mathew and I met once in Chris’s birthday party right after I broke up with Ray.

“Tania I was wondering if I will ever see you again” he said with an angelic smile.

“You will be seeing a lot of me Mathew” I uttered as Sofia’s eyes widened in disbelief.
