Chapter Ten
His eyes widened in disbelief and gave me his hand as we headed towards the exit door. He kept on holding my hand even when we reentered the ball room, I expected he would let go so we won’t make a scene but I was wrong, instead he pulled me to his side and wrapped me with his arm. People were looking at us and I was pretty embarrassed. Luckily I had time earlier to text Matt and tell him to leave; I didn’t want to cause a scene in front of the press and everybody.
“Why did you insist on driving me home?” I ask him once we got in the back of the limo.
“I wanted you”. He said calmly as his eyes never leaving me or my body.
I cannot believe this is happening, I am in the same limo as Kevin Jacobs, he is admitting that he wants me, I felt my heart will jump out of my chest, I couldn’t find any words to reply, I just looked at him.
“Who is this man? You did not deny that he was your fake boyfriend yet you were kissing him couple of days ago? What is your story?”
I don’t think I can be honest with him; it will be totally embarrassing to tell him about my agreement with Matt, to tell him that my whole purpose was to forget him, but I don’t want to start whatever this thing is with a lie. His gaze makes me nervous and gives me Alzheimer’s, I forgot how to talk and what to say.
I finally forced some words out of my mouth and said with the most uncertain voice ever “W-we are just friends; he was just doing me a favor.”
“You really are the worst liar ever” he said as he held my hand and squeezed before he brought it to his mouth and kissed, then he put it on his face.
“I am not a liar, I am diplomatic” I replied as I sat closer to him on the limo’s bench.
“Define diplomatic” he orders as he puts his hand over my shoulder and started playing with my hair.
“Telling the truth, just not all the truth”. I replied as I rested my head on his shoulder.
He laughed out loud, tightened his hug and I drifted off to sleep. I knew I had too much champagne, but it was the only I could survive the gala without a heart attack.
I started to wake up when I felt the limo stopping and I felt Kevin’s hand caressing my face to wake me up. I opened my eyes to see his gorgeous blue eyes looking at me. At that moment I knew that I was seriously falling for him, but this time without any heart ache because I feel that the feelings are mutual.
He was smiling, not showing his perfect white teeth, but still, it was divine, I really don’t mind waking up to this smile and these eyes my entire life.
“You can stay in my arms if you want” he whispered his eyes never leaving mine and caressing my check with the back of his hand.
“You should not take advantage of a tipsy woman Mr. Jacobs” I replied in a very low voice and a weak smile.
He laughed and cocked his head to the back “You really are something else Ms. Crown.”
“What do you mean?”
“Do you want to have this conversation in a car, at midnight?” he asked.
“Is it still midnight! I thought it is at least 3:00 am, I promised Sophia we would go for an after party to have some drinks, I totally forgot, besides we are in a freaking limousine, it is bigger than some unfortunate people’s houses!” I spoke too quickly and Kevin looking at me surprised.
“You really are tipsy! You are talking about several subjects the same time and you forgot the main subject which is you!” Kevin said and he was practically making fun of me, but I was not annoyed, I actually liked it.
