"Follow me then." I say waving my hand signaling for them to follow. "The school is not as big as others since we are in a small town but we do have different classrooms for each class and that can be a little confusing at times." I say as we walk through the hallway.
"So this is where you will be taking your basic classes." I say looking at their schedules and then pointing to their respective classrooms.
Once we are done with that tour, we make our way back towards the entrance of the school.
"Now that that's done, we do have some fun activities and clubs that you can join." I say turning to face them.
"Activities like what?" Alana asks.
"Well," I say opening the doors to the gymnasium. "This is the main gym, where students play different sports, and here...." I say guiding them through a hallway. "This is our swimming pool."
"Wow." They all say as they look around.
"This is so cool!" Ariadne exclaims.
"Actually, our swim team is the most popular here." I saw with a smile. "And it's a big deal in town."
I watch as all of them look around with amused faces and then think about our conversation earlier.
"So.....do you guys swim at the island?" I ask looking for a way to keep the conversation going.
"Kind off." Sean says. "But we don't have a swimming pool like you guys. We practice our swimming by the beach."
"Wow, that is really interesting, how do you guys do it?" I ask, now it's my turn to be amused.
"Well, we have lived our whole lives on the island, we need to swim in order to be able to fish." Sean says again with a smile. "So we usually practice in the ocean."
"Wow, I see. That's really interesting."I say with a nod. "Isn't it dangerous?"
"Not really, you get used to it after a while."
As I look down at my watch, my eyes widen when I see the time. "Let's get going before we run out of time." They eagerly nod and follow me.
As we walk towards the main building where we take all our classes, Ariadne taps my shoulder. "Yes?"
"What are those for?" She asks pointing at the different colored trash cans.
"Those are to separate the trash. Each color is for something different, for example, that one over there is for plastic bottles, and that one is for carton."
"Why?"
"So it is easier to recycle."
"Oh, that makes sense. How do you organize it?"
"We have a club in charge of helping the environment." I say smiling slightly.
"Can I join?" Ariadne asks with hopeful eyes.
"Sure, I'll tell you more about it later." I say matching her smile.
"You know," I hear a voice from behind me, "if you keep showing your ecology club to everyone, you will not have more friends." And that voice can only belong to one person.
My best friend. "Good morning to you too Alexander." I say glaring playfully.
"Hi." He says with his box smile. "I'm Alex, Melody's only friend." He places his arm around me and shakes me slightly.
"You wish." I say with a scoff and crossing my arms.
"I'm sorry." He says with a pout.
"It's alright, but stop saying that to everyone new you meet." I say slapping the back of head slightly.
"Alright, alright." He says raising his hands on defeat. "You win."
Our conversation is interrupted by the sound of the bell ringing.
