"Do you think you can find your way around?" I ask the group and they all nod starting to head to their respective classrooms.
As I'm about to walk away from the group, one of the boys approaches me. I think his name is Sean?
"Um...sorry to bother you." He says looking down, "but do you think I can walk with you to biology class?" He asks looking up and giving me a hopeful look.
"Sure, follow me." I say with a smile, starting to walk before I turn to face him again. "It's Sean right?" I ask hoping that I got his name right.
"Yes." He says smiling, making his sea green eyes sparkle.
"Nice to meet you." I say returning the smile. Now that I think about it, I talked to them as a group, not individually.
"So, what's it like living on the island?" I ask as we sit next to each other.
"It's really fun." He says relaxing and putting his hands behind his neck. "Or at least I think it's fun, since it's all I've known." He says smiling and rubbing the back of his neck. As the sunlight hits Sean, a tiny, shiny object shines on the sun. Squinting, I try taking a closer look at the object on his ear, I think it's a piercing? It looks like emerald.
Sean notices and waves his hand in font of me. "Hey Melody, are you alright?" He asks furrowing his eyebrows.
I clear my throat and look away. "I'm fine, sorry, I just got distracted for a second."
"That's alright." He says chuckling. As we look to the front, we notice the teacher walking into the classroom.

It's finally around lunch time when as soon as I step out of the classroom, I feel someone pull me to the side."Melody! Let's eat lunch together." Ariadne says with a bright smile. "Everyone is sitting at the patio."
"Al-alright." I manage to say as I'm dragged away.
As we reach the patio I see everyone sitting in the grass and under the big tree that provides plenty of shade.
"Hi." I say as I take a seat on the grass and take out my lunch. "How is your day so far?" I ask to no one in particular.
"It's being great." Sean says lying on the grass and closing his eyes.
"It's different from the island." Alana says taking another bite from her sandwich.
"Would you say I'm crazy if I say I want to join the swimming team?" Sean says raising an eyebrow.
"We should all join the swimming team!" Ariadne exclaims.
"I don't think that's a good idea." I say looking down.
"Why not?" Alana asks.
"I.....I can't swim." I say lowering my voice.
"We will teach you then." Ariadne says grabbing my hand.
"It's complicated."
"How come, you used to love the water." Sean says casually.
"I don't know." I say with a shrug. Before they can ask any more question, I start getting up and getting the dust off my pants. "I'll see you guys later." I say giving them a small smile and a wave.
As I walk away and I can't help glancing behind me. I hope I didn't seem rude. I just don't like talking about it.
***
That's all I could think of the rest of the day. Should I try learning to swim? Would that get rid of my dreams? As I walk home, I hear another set of footsteps behind me. Stopping, I turn around to face the person.
"Hey s-" Sean starts to say but then he stops when he almost bumps into me.
"Sean?" I say surprised. "What bring you here?"
"Ah, sorry for startling you." Sean rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, I'm not sure to be honest."
"Did you need something?"
"N-no." He says. His smile disappears as he looks down. "I guess I just wanted to walk with someone I know."
"Oh, sure thing." I say with a smile as he looks up.
As we keep walking we both stay quiet. "So...." Sean starts as he kicks some sand. "Do you have any siblings?"
"No, I'm an only child." I say and stop as something comes to my mind.
Sean stops and looks at me as I shake myself out of my thoughts. "Sorry. I space out a bit."
"It's okay." He says with a smile.
We continue to walk in silence the rest of the way until we reach my house. "So this is where I live." I say awkwardly looking at the ground. "Where are you staying at?"
As Sean was about to answer I hear my moms voice calling from inside. "Come on in."
I slightly raise an eyebrow as Sean and I exchange a glance. "Well, come on in."
As soon as we open the door I see my mother wearing her apron, who receives us with a bright smile.
"Hey Sean." My mom says putting the plates on the table. Then she heads towards Sean and gives him a hug.
He responds by closing his eyes and hugging her tightly, almost as if they know each other. They separate and she takes a good look at him, still holding his hands she says "look at how big you've gotten." Then she ruffles his hair.I just stand there not knowing what to say. They know each other?
Then my mother acknowledges my presence. "Oh hi honey, sorry about that. Sean will be staying at the visitors room for a while."
