Hello peoples!!! Yeah, I said I was ending the story, but... So, this is just another chapter in case you were actually interested in SBTS. Happy October!
Dez POV
"Dez! What are you doing here?!" Piero yelled at me angrily from the passenger's seat.
"Uh, well, I told you that I was going with you," I said quietly.
He growled. "Why do you do this to me?!"
"It's my job to get you angry because no one else has the guts to. Anger is good, you don't want to lose that fine emotion-"
"Oh, I got a lot of it right now."
"Great! Use that as your fuel when you run into a place full of vampires. Anger always helps me destroy things," I suggested.
We were driving upward and there were lots of plants around the road, so we could be going up a mountain.
"We're almost there," Gaetano said from behind the wheel.
Piero turned to look at me. "You're staying in the car."
"Whaaaa? But it's hot outside-"
"Turn on the air conditioner," he stated plainly.
"What if his vamps find me?"
"Then you run. It's better than being around hundreds all at once."
"Hundreds?! You can't go in there! It's a terrible idea!"
"Do you think I want to go in there?! Mariagrazia needs us; she's still a kid, only 16! Only God knows what they've done to her already!"
I sat back, silent for the rest of the ride. He was really ticked off, so I didn't want to irritate him more than I already did.
As we drove, the mass of trees started to thin out. I stared in amazement at a ginormous castle several miles away that was sitting on top of a mountain. The sun was blazing above it, it's rays bouncing off the grand walls. It was kind of like Hearst Castle in CA, but probably even more amazing. I so wanted to check it out, but Gaetano drove in the opposite direction of it.
"Where are you going?! The castle is the other way!" I cried out in disappointment.
"We're not going to park out in the open. That would be stupid," Piero said, obviously still mad.
Gaetano parked in a patch of trees and the guys got out.
"Are you going to stay in the car on you own or am I going to have to lock you in?" Piero said.
"I'll stay in the car," I whispered.
He slammed the door shut and I watched them gather their weapons and leave me, alone.
"Jerk."
He looked back at me and frowned, quite a distance away. I glared at him with narrowed eyes. He shook his head and kept walking. Fine, walk away! Leave me here so you can go die!!! I growled in frustration and punched the seat in front of me. I began to sob. I don't want to lose him; not today, not ever. I can't let him go, it's not possible!
I jumped over the middle seats and tried to open the door, but it was locked. How dare he?! I searched the car for something to break the window with, but there was nothing, except for a rubber ducky...I summoned my wolf strength and punched through the window. How invigorating!
I wiped the shards of glass off my hand and watched as the cuts healed almost instantly.
I followed Piero's scent all the way to Vico's castle. They were going around the back, probably looking for an alternate entrance. I followed them, but kept my distance. I was so focused on them, that I wasn't looking around and tripped over a crack in the ground, falling into a pile of metal poles that was stacked near one of the castle walls. Everyone within a mile's radius probably heard that...
I tried to think of what to do, but stayed frozen in fear. My first instinct was to run, but where?! Everything was out in the open. The vampires would see me running and easily get me. If I stay here, they'll get me for sure-
A heavy hand covered my mouth and I was pulled back. I panicked and didn't know what to do. I was being dragged away, like a lifeless doll, not even putting up a fight. Get out of here!! They're going to kill you!!!!
There was a loud smack and the person holding me let go and collapsed onto the floor. Jay was holding one of the metal poles. I'm assuming that he hit the guy on the head with it. How nice of Jay; I would have impaled that guy.
Piero rounded the corner and spotted me. He growled and surprisingly, started to laugh. Angry laughs are the best, unless they're directed at you....
"Why can't u just listen?!"
I shrugged and he looked around for any vampires coming for us.
"You're going to mess up everything!" he fumed.
"Well I can't go back now, so it looks like I have to go back with you-"
"No. Francesco will take you back."
"Oh thank God," Francesco said, relieved.
"Chicken," I muttered.
"Hey, I'm no chicken! I just don't want to go into a place full of bloodthirsty monsters," he defended.
"Uh huh," I stated with narrowed eyes.
"Go! Get out of here, before they come!" Piero stated firmly.
He pushed me away, which I didn't like at all, and Francesco sped in front of me, eager to get out of here. We ran, back towards the car, I guess. I glanced back at Piero one last time and had an odd feeling. Part of me knew that something terrible would happen. He looked back, too, and in his eyes, was the fierceness of an alpha and the love that many don't get a chance to see in an entire lifetime. He smiled, but it wasn't right. It wasn't his smile, but the smile of a goodbye. He was out of sight now and I wanted to go back, but my legs had a mind of their own, just running away from what my heart wanted. Away from the danger and into the safety of the trees. I will go back, I must.
"You're not going back," Francesco said, like he could read my mind.
"Yes-"
"At least give them some time to find her. You'll just get in the way. He'll be worried about you and he won't be focused."
I frowned. He did have a good point though.
"What do you suggest we do then?"
"We wait."
