Emily,a member of the "G3" had been dating her boyfriend 💏 Sean for a year now.
There had been ups and downs in their relationship but they've managed to come this far so she decided to introduce him to her parents.
Mr and Mrs Thorn were the religious kind of parents 🙏.
They go to church regularly, prays before eating dinner, dresses decently(skirts below the knee) and all that but aside that,they loved Emily dearly and they wanted her to be happy so they accepted to dine with her boyfriend Sean even though they would have preferred Emily dating their neighbour's son who goes to their church.
Sean💃 on the other hand was the party type🍷.
He's cute,funny and he's got the swag👌.
At exactly 7:00pm,the door bell of the Thorn's apartment ranged and Mrs Thorn decided to check who was at the gate; expecting it to be Sean.
"Hey you must be Sean💃 right?"
"Yes ma'am" Sean answered
"Well come in".
At dinner 🍝; Sean sat opposite Emily at the table right beside Mrs Thorn and Mr Thorn afar of.
"So Sean,how long have you known my daughter? "Mr Thorn asked politely
"Ever since first grade but we started dating a year ago; sir" he answered.
"So where do you fellowship? Emily tells us you're a serious Christian".asked Mrs Thorn
"eeerrrmm I think the name is...
He murmured as he began to cough.
"Please drink some water" Emily said as she handed him with a glass of water.
"Thanks babe" he signed
"I am sorry to disappoint you ma'am but I don't go to church and I have never been to any church but being with your daughter has taught me a lot and also changed my perceptions about life so I have made it a point to start going to church with you guys and also get to witness the wonders of the God whom you serve.
"he answered in a hurry being careful not to utter them wrong.
"So if you say you've been with my daughter for a year now; are you now realizing this because we asked you or have you known this all along but you just decided not to serve the Lord?"
"Mum,you're making him uncomfortable; I thought you said you wanted to get to know him:so why all these interrogations?"
Emily asked in an angry tone.
"Where did you learn to talk this way to your parents?
This is not the daughter I brought up to behave in a Godly manner.
You now lie,buck up lies and even raise your voice against your parents.
"Have you forgotten what the bible says in Ephesians 6:1-3?
"Well let me refresh your memory if the devil have blinded you with love;
🙏 Children,obey your parents in the Lord:for this is right. Honour Thy Father and Mother (which is the first commandment with a promise)
That it may be well with you,and your days on this earth may be long".she said as she busted out crying 😢.
Mr Thorn placed his left arm around her shoulder to console her.
"I was looking forward to a wonderful dinner with you guys and also get to know you more aside the wonderful things Emily says about you all the time but it seems my presence here has only worsen the situation therefore, I would like to take my leave and I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience caused."
After a minute of silence, he stood up and took his leave.
Emily also left in tears and hurried to her room.
Just when I was about to go to bed, my phone started ringing.
"Hello"
"Hey Emily"
"How did the dinner with your parents go?" I asked
Before she could utter another word, she busted out in tears.
"Calm down;what happened?
Talk to me"
"Hello, hello Emily are you there?
After a moment of silence, she began to narrate what had happened.
I felt bad for her cos I knew her parents would be a thorn in Sean's flesh but I didn't imagine it to be this worse with her mum quoting scriptures and all that.
To console her,I promised to have a chart with Sean tomorrow at our meeting and ask him what his next step would be for their relationship.
At least that calmed her;I signed.
I knew coming up with this group wasn't going to be easy but I never knew it would be this stressful plus I have to be able to provide solutions that would help keep each girl on the platform happy..
But what about my love life?🤦♀️
Nobody seem to care; except for theirs I moaned.
