After two days of being absent from school, Emily arrived early on Tuesday. She didn't have her joyous face as always but she tried to smile to people who approached her at the hall way.

"Hey girlfriend "

"Hi Paula"

"Welcome back" I said as I walked closer

"Thanks" she responded and walked ahead.

"Woow what has gotten into her?" Mia asked as she got closer to me.

"Well,we will find out later today at the meeting...that's if only she would show up" I responded sadly.

I can feel the pain she's going through therefore I understand why she would act that way...
She feels lost and alone and needs her friends now more than ever and am going to try as much as possible to be there for her. I said to myself

"Hi ladies" I greeted as my eyes scrolled around the room to get a glimpse of Emily if she'd showed up to the meeting.

"Hey Paula" they answered in unison

"I'd love for Emily to be with us today but I guess she's still grounded..."I said

"Hey Paula"

"Oh hi...excuse me; were you saying something? Am just kinda lost am sorry"

"It's okay...I just came to hand this letter to you personally. It's from Emily. she gave it to me at launch break and asked for it to be handed to you."

"Whew i signed...thank you;I was just thinking of what to tell everyone since we held this meeting in favor of Emily. Thank you very much Cindy".

"Welkies babe" she responded

"Hi friends,
I am very sorry I couldn't make it to the meeting today. As you all know,am still grounded and I have to report home immediately after school but I have heard of all the support and efforts you guys are putting in place just so Sean and I would be back again.
I really appreciate them dearly and I would be very glad if you guys could help come out with a plan or a way to resolve this issue with my parents; especially my mum.
I would really like to hear from you guys soon. Thanks

I sighed after reading her letter aloud to the girls gathered. it was simple and straightforward and just how I expected.

"So guys, what measures can we put in place to help Emily resolve this issue at home with her parents? " I asked.

"Well, I think we should call Sean over and try our best to convince him to go over to Emily's house and have a talk with her parents.
It may be possible that they're calm now since its been weeks already and that they would be capable of reasoning with him if he tries explaining himself further" Mia suggested.

"That's not bad, Evelyn added.

"Any more suggestions?" I asked.

After a minute of silence, I concluded we should try Mia's idea and the meeting was adjourned.

"Honey,am home"

"Hey,mum" I replied as I walked down from the stairs to meet her.

"How was school today?"

"It went well,I guess"

"Why what happened?
Have a seat;let's talk".

"Mum,can I please confide in you about your opinion on an issue?"

"Yes sure"

"Please promise me you wouldn't discuss this with your friends(referring to the parents of some of the girls in the group).

"I promise ✋"

"Pinky swear?"

"Yes baby"

"OK. you remember Emily right?

"Oh yeah;the daughter of Mr and Mrs Thorn....I do"

"Well, she had been dating this guy Sean for a year now and she finally got the guts to introduce him to her parents but things didn't go as planned due to their strong religious beliefs and since Sean doesn't go to church or worship God, they think he's not suitable for Emily.
And now she has been grounded for a month just because she stood up for Sean when she thought her parents were disrespecting him.
They still love each other but from the look of things,I think they might break up eventually because they both think it's better they stay away from another.
The girls and I are trying really hard to resolve this issue but because it involves her parents,we're finding it difficult to come up with any suitable idea.
What do you think we should do mum?".
