Chapter 14-Jake

Joeys POV

I woke up alone in the bed. Where'd Meghan go? I stood up and the bathroom was empty. I finally found a note on the table.

'Hey Joey. David called about Sasha. When you wake up, call me and I'll come get you. - Meghan'

I pull out my phone and call.

"I'm up. How is she?"

"I'll explain everything later. Meet me halfway, near those coffee shops. It's cooler out and I really don't wanna walk."

"I understand. Ill be there soon. I love you."

I hung up the phone and got dressed in my clothes from yesterday and headed out the door. I wonder what's going on? Why didn't Meghan wake me up to go with her? It's not safe for her going out like that by herself.

Meghan's POV

I walked a couple blocks to the coffee shops I told Joey I'd meet him at. I tried my best to cover up my red eyes and tear stained cheeks. I'm not sure how exactly to tell Joey what's going on. I see Joey running up the street to me.

"Meghan what's going on?"He said as we started back to the hospital.

"Late last night David called saying there was something wrong with Sasha. Well not Sasha exactly, but one of the twins. It's being chocked with the others umbilical cord. But David practically begged me to come down so I walked and I figured you needed the sleep so.."

"Will they be okay?"

"They're not sure. Sasha has been in surgery all morning."

At the Hospital

Joeys POV

"Hey David." I said as Meghan and I walked into the waiting room.

"Morning." David was crying, curled up in a ball on one of the chairs. There was only one other person in the room, some teenage boy who was too distracted in playing Pokemon on his DS to realize us.

"Any word on her yet?"

"No. The doctor did come in and say that they're close to finishing up but that's all." David said looking at the floor.

Meghan and I comforted David for a minute or so until he pushed us away so we walked over to the boy.

"Whatcha playing?" I asked looking over his shoulder. Hopefully he doesn't think I was a creep or something.

"Pokemon. I know I know. 'What's that? A stupid little kids game?' I don't care." He said harshly without looking up.

"No no. You don't understand. I love Pokemon! So does she."

"Yeah right. You're like 30 right? I bet you don't even know 5 characters." I felt a bit of defense when he called me a 30 year old. So I proved him wrong.

"Pikachu, Squirtle, Charamander, Mewtwo, and Ash, Pokemon trainer." I got the boys attention. "By the way, I'm 22."

"Wow. How'd you know that?"

"I told you. I love Pokemon." I earned the boys trust. He started showing me his pokemon that he has and we all talked.

"So why are you here?"

"My mom is having lung surgery. Why are you guys here?"

"His girlfriend is in bad condition." Meghan said looking over at a whimpering David.

"Oh. What happened?"

"She's pregnant and got hit by a car. Her babies aren't doing so well."

"Oh. I hope they get better. My names Jake by the way."

"Thanks. I'm Meghan."

"And I'm Joey Graceffa." I decided to say my whole name just in case he noticed me.

"Cool. So wh-" His sentence got cut off by the doctor speaking in the doorway.

"David Camarena? You're girlfriend is out of surgery." David jumped up and was in front of the doctors face.

"How is she?!"

"Well not great but she's conscious and breathing. The twins aren't much better, but there's nothing else we can do." I hear a sigh from David and Meghan started to stand up.

"Uhm guys how about you stay here? I wanna see her and then we can like switch turns seeing her?"

I can tell Meghan doesn't want to agree but nods her head and sat back down with me.

"What's your friends name? If you don't mind telling me."

"Sasha. Why?"

"Tallish, dark brown hair, big grey eyes?" Jakes starting to creep me out knowing this but I continue.

"Yeah...?"

"That's my sister! She left for LA about a year ago! What are you doing here?" What does he mean? He can't possibly be related to Sasha.

David and the doctor still didn't leave yet.

"Can I please go in with you? That's my sister."

"Uh fine. Meghan, Joey?" We get up and go to the room.

"Now she's still very weak and can't have much stress. However, were able to send her home tomorrow." The doctor warns us.

We walked into the room, this time all 5 of us. Sasha looked very tired. She looked at all of us carefully, her eyes lastly landing on Jake.

"J-Jacob?" She stuttered out.

"Sasha!" Jake ran to his sister and hugged her.

"Why didn't she tell us?" Meghan whispered to us.

"I have no idea. I suppose we have to take care of him while his family recovers?"

The doctor started to speak.

"Now. I feel very sorry to tell you all this, but whenever you go back home, you will most likely have to remove the one twin. Unless you'd like to let nature do it's trick, although it's much more painful."

What? They did all this work, and now we can't even get what we want? We have a whole different problem now.
