An Unwanted Surprise (A David Tennant fanfic)

The Light

I cringe, horrified at what this monster claims. It tried long and hard to get me, because it new that then the Doctor would come. And he did, just not for a few hours.

I was laying on my bed when I heard a faint sound. I turned over in my bed, thinking it was just the monster again--which comes around every hour, that's hour I kept track of the five hours I was here. I closed my eyes and thought about the Eagle Nebula, what I would give to see it again. Well,I will someday, because the Doctor will come.

I try to picture the beauty, and I feel dizzy from lack of food and water, but I don't care. I close my eyes tight and picture the colors, the stars, the wonder.

Everyone around me is asleep, I'm the only one awake. I open my eyes from my day dream and turn back and face the iron door, which is now locked. The faint noise gets louder, and closer, so I lie still on my cold bed.

I stare forward, and the noise is as close as the hallway, just by my cell. Now, the noise is like running, dabs I know that it isn't the monster.

I rise and sit up on my bed, and there, the Doctor appears. I smile, not speaking, and before I can blink, the cell door opens. I hop up, and get out of the cramped space.

"What about them?" I ask, pointing to the others, in their cells.

The Doctor makes the "quiet" symbol, and he sneaks over, unlocking Jenny's cell, and she awakens. Then he unlocks the rest of the cells, and we all make a run for it.

As we enter the room where I first awoke in, I hear the monster starting to chase us. I don't look back, but James does. From the corner of my eye, I see him drop to the ground, Jenny runs over to him, and she picks him up, and flings him over her shoulder.

We keep running. But I can feel a light catching up with us. I glance back, and I see the light. It's the same exact light from when we ran into the weeping angels, only the monster is floating in it.

That light shouldn't exist. It shouldn't be here, but yet, it's following us.
