~*~ An Announcement to Make (Pt.3)
Becky pushed through everyone who was still milling around to get back to her flight gate. It seemed like everyone in the entire airport had congregated into the main hallway just to block her way.Her heart was beating erratically in her chest and her hands were still shaking. She found it difficult to take even steps and she felt a little colder inside with each step she took.
Becky eventually managed to push her way through the crowd and make it back to her flight gate. The old women were still there, one of them had dozed off while the other worked in a crossword book. The one who was working in her book looked up when Becky entered and smiled at her, recognizing Becky from earlier.
Becky smiled back but didn't make conversation. Instead, she went back to her corner and faced the window. The snow was still falling heavily, covering the ground in a thick white blanket. The sun was beginning to drop a bit lower in the sky, reflecting it's blinding rays off of the snow outside.
That only managed to preoccupy Becky for a brief period of time before her mind was back on Zelo. Looking back, she couldn't believe she'd left him in the shop without saying anything. Her inner fangirl was kicking herself but the rest of her was applauding her. On one hand, she'd just run away from the person she looked up to and adored most in this world. On the other, she saved herself from making a fool of herself in front of him.
Becky unslung her bag from her back and dug around in the pockets until she found her iPod. She tucked her earbuds into her ears and stretched her legs out in front of herself. When she was comfortable, she placed her back against the wall and leaned her head back, trying anything to forget the decision she was already regretting.
"Yah, Youngjae! Youngjae! Daehyun, go grab Youngjae before he gets lost!" Himchan was waiting in line at a small coffee shop with Daehyun and Youngjae was across the hall looking at a cell phone display.
He watched as Daehyun bobbed off into the crowd to grab a hold of Youngjae's sleeve and try to tow him back to Himchan. Daehyun wasn't making good progress though because, Youngjae seemed to have distracted him and was talking furtively with his hands.
Himchan shook his head at the two younger boys and placed his order for the drinks. He wasn't sure if Jongup would want hot tea or hot chocolate so he got one of each, the younger boy could be quite picky depending on his mood.
Himchan accepted his drinks in two carriers from the barista behind the counter and walked a few steps away from the coffee shop. "Yah! Daehyun! Youngjae!" Himchan growled at the two boys from across the crowd.
Both boys snapped their heads towards Himchan immediately and saw that he was walking away from them. Himchan smiled to himself when they ran to catch up to him. He handed each of them a drink tray and walked ahead of them, leading them back towards their original flight gate.
"There it is!" Youngjae said, pointing with his free hand to the sign that denoted the gate as Gate F2B.
"Good work, Youngjae. I would have walked right past it." Youngjae smiled at his hyung proudly and they cut across the aisle to get into the nearly abandoned room.
Himchan looked around and noted that there were only three other people in the room. There were two older women on one side of the room who smiled at them as they entered. All three boys bowed to the women as they passed and found some seats around a small table to sit at. In the corner behind them, was a young ginger haired girl with a pair of headphones in her ears. He thought about approaching the lone girl but then thought better of it, she was probably waiting for someone...
"Zelo? What are you doing?" Yongguk asked, laughing as he steered the boy through the crowded airport by the arm. He noticed that Zelo had been distracted since they left the first shop, he didn't seem to be paying attention to where he was going.
"I'm looking for her hyung. For Becky." Zelo was still scanning the crowd for any sight of her bright hair and he could feel his heart sinking with each passing second.
"Zelo-ah," Yongguk said, his tone serious. "You may not see her again... She walked away for a reason."
"But hyung! She knew me! She knew who I was!"
"She was probably just a fan, Zelo-ah. This happens all the time at home and you never get this worked up." Yongguk was worried for the young maknae. He had managed to work himself into a frenzied panic looking for a girl he'd met once only briefly. While he could see the romance in the situation, he didn't want Zelo to be hurt if he couldn't find Becky. He was only trying to protect Zelo as usual.
"She knew me," Zelo said again, this time to himself. He understood that his hyung was only trying to look out for him but Yongguk wasn't there, he didn't understand the connection he felt when Becky touched his hand. There was something special about her.
"Is that her?" Jongup asked, pointing to a red haired woman leaning against the wall talking on her cell phone.
"Aniyo. She was my age. With bright curly hair and big green eyes." Zelo was picturing her in his mind for what seemed like the millionth time and this time it was Jongup who pulled Zelo out of the way of someone else who was walking.
"Come on, we're almost to the gate." Yongguk led the boys into the much less crowded room and spotted Himchan immediately. There were two drink carriers on a low table in front of him with seven cups, each had steam gently curling from the lid.
Zelo had given up on his search and sat down morosely next to Himchan. "What's wrong Zelo-ah?" Himchan asked, not seeing Yongguk shaking his head at him until it was too late.
"I met a girl." Zelo admitted on a sigh, resting his head on Himchan's shoulder.
"That's wonderful! Where is she?" Himchan was looking around as his hands absentmindedly went to Zelo's hair. He ran his fingers through the silky curls while he searched.
"I don't know! She walked away while we were shopping." Himchan patted the boy's back while he spoke and could sense the sadness that was coming from him. It killed Himchan to see his maknae so sad.
Youngjae was passing out the drinks to everyone now that they'd arrived and they moved to sit on the floor at the low table. Zelo sat in between Himchan and Jongup as their drinks were distributed. Jongup chose the hot chocolate over the tea so they set it aside.
When Himchan looked back, the girl was still sitting alone only now, she had her knees pulled to her chest with her head resting on them. "Zelo-ah. We don't want this tea to go to waste. Will you go and see if that girl in the corner would like it?" He wanted something to distract Zelo and the girl looked around his age. Maybe speaking to someone new would take his mind off of the other girl.
"What girl?" Zelo asked, looking around. Himchan pointed behind them to the corner and Zelo's eyes widened in shock. "Hyung! That is her! That is Becky!"
