~*~An Announcement to Make (Pt.9) [The Finale]
Becky watched with a heavy heart as the van drove off down the road, leaving her standing on the sidewalk with nothing but her suitcase, her backpack, and half of her heart. The other half was riding away, with a boy she'd only met once.
She wasn't sure how long she stood there, staring at the empty road but, she was jarred from her comatose-like state when Chelsea came out on the front porch and noticed Becky standing there.
"Becky! Is that you?" Chelsea asked, running down the steps and across her perfectly manicured lawn to throw her arms around her younger cousin. When Becky didn't respond, Chelsea became worried. "Becky, are you alright?" Chelsea came to stand in front of Becky and saw, for the first time, the tears running down Becky's face. "What's wrong?" Chelsea grabbed Becky's arm and her suitcase, dragging them both into her house.
As soon as Becky was through the threshold, her tears intensified. There was no sense of B.A.P here, no memories she had with Zelo in Chelsea's house. Chelsea pulled the sobbing Becky slowly over to the couch where Becky collapsed, burying her face in her hands.
Chelsea pulled her shoes off and set them by the door. "I'll be right back, Honey. I'm going to make you some tea." More tears started to pour down Becky's face and Chelsea was at a loss of what she was supposed to do.
"I-I-I love t-t-tea!" Becky sobbed out, thinking of Zelo bringing her the tea in the airport while she sat in the corner.
Chelsea made a cup of tea as quickly as she could and brought it over to Becky who was attempting to wipe her face free of tears. Becky gave her cousin a watery smile and said, "I'm sorry. This probably isn't the greeting you were expecting." Becky sniffed and wiped at her eyes some more, graciously accepting the cup from Chelsea.
"It's fine. It's fine." Chelsea said, not wanting to say anything that could set her cousin off into another tear filled episode. "Do you want to talk about what happened?"
Becky nodded her head and asked, "Did you get my messages from when I was in the airport?"
Chelsea shook her head. "I dropped my phone in the sink the other day while I was doing dishes. I have it sitting in a cup of rice in the kitchen drying out."
"Oh. Well, my flight was delayed, as I'm sure you figured out when I didn't arrive last night. The entire airport was shut down and I had to camp out in the flight gate." Becky told Chelsea everything, from the first meeting in the store to the kiss they shared on the sidewalk.
Chelsea was full of disbelief until Becky pulled her phone out and showed the picture Himchan had taken with them all in the van. Zelo was next to Becky on her left, his face right next to hers and Himchan was on her right. The other boys were in the background flashing peace signs and bright smiles.
"Oh my gosh." Chelsea said, suddenly short of breath. "They're performing at Kezar Stadium tonight. It's sold out so we can't go but they're televising it!"
"Cheer up, Zelo." Jongup said, pulling his vest top on and buttoning it over his black tank top. They were preparing for their performance and Zelo had been in a sour mood since he left Becky standing on the sidewalk.
He'd known that he would eventually have to leave her but it seemed like something so far away. Something he didn't have to worry about. Now the time had come and gone and Becky was in the same city as him, so close but yet so far away.
"Hyung, what are you doing?" Youngjae asked, resting his chin on the shoulder of his hyung.
"Sending a picture to my baby sister!" Himchan said as if it were obvious. He had open SnapChat and was getting ready to take a picture of himself pouting into the camera. Zelo jumped into the background too and threw his fingers up in his trademark heart. Himchan entered the caption, Missing you and sent the picture.
