Six men and their manager stood in the hallway of the VIP floor of the hospital. Their CEO requested their friend be in a room on that floor to help ensure discretion and privacy.
Taehyung stood with his hand on the door and took a deep breath. The other five stood directly behind him also nervous about what they were going to be walking into. As Taehyung released his breath, he slowly opened the door and the six men filed in quietly.
Taehyung's gaze first went to the bed and found it empty. He quickly scanned the rest for the room and saw his friend seated in a wheelchair in front of the large windows. He quickly made sure he had a happy smile on his face and with a swift pace, he made his way over to his best friend.
"Jimnieeeeeeeee," he sang out happily, coming around the front of his friend and squatting down in front of the wheelchair. "You're looking better! Must be you have some pretty nurses or something." He giggled and then smiled into the sad eyes of his friend. He looked down at the leg that was tightly wrapped in a large white cast and propped up on the leg rests of the wheelchair.
"Tae Tae," croaked Jimin, his voice rusty from lack of use and coarse with emotions. A tear trickled down his cheek and Taehyung's heart broke. He reached up a trembling hand and wiped it off Jimin's pale cheek.
"I know, Jiminie, I know." He raised the volume of his voice and gently turned Jimin's chair around. "Look! Everyone came to see you today!"
No one said a word at first. No one was expecting to see Jimin like this. He was always smiling, happy, healthy looking. Not wilted, sad, weak, and battered. It took them all off guard for a moment and then Namjoon quickly pulled everyone back up.
"Ah, listen Chim Chim, if you insist on being lazy like this, I might just become a better dancer than you."
Everyone laughed and groaned at Namjoon's obvious lie.
"Yah, Mini, when are you coming home?" Yoongi strolled over with his hands in his pockets and sat down in a chair next to Jimin.
Jimin smiled at him and shrugged his shoulders slightly. "I dunno, hyung. I'm pretty messed up." He sighed and slowly reached a hand up and combed his fingers through his flat hair.
"We miss you," whispered Yoongi, swallowing the lump in his throat.
"Me too. I just want to get out of here. It's so lonely. I miss all the noise you guys make," Jimin said, laughing a bit too hard, cueing everyone in on the fact he was dealing with a lot of emotions at the moment.
"My, look at you," said Jin with a head shake of disapproval. "Aren't they giving you baths up here?" He reached a hand out and tousled Jimin's dirty hair.
"Yeah. But, its been a few days since I got my hair washed, it's true." He pretended to pout and then looked down at his lap with a smile. It was humiliating to be seen like this, even if these were his friends.
"Are you in pain, hyung?" Jungkook approached slowly and sat down on the floor in front of Jimin.
"A little. They are happy to give me pain meds, but those make me really sleepy," he said, his voice trailing off into a whisper. "I don't want to sleep any more," he whispered. He blinked back some tears and cleared his throat.
Taehyung leaned down and hugged his friend gently. "It's okay. I'm going to go find a nurse to help us wash your hair. Then we're going to perk up this dreary room. It may be VIP, but it needs some BTS flair, don't you guys agree?" Everyone laughed, including Jimin.
"While these guys make this place more livable, you and I will take a stroll. Okay?" He smiled cheerfully at Jimin, who wanted to say no but couldn't when faced with those puppy dog eyes.
