Chapter 6- Puppy Dog Eyes And Cougar Secretaries:

"So why exactly did that happen?" I asked finally, breaking the seemingly comfortable silence for the first time since the 'Ditch Fiasco'.

Hunter smirked again. "I had to apologize to Juan about..." He paused thoughtfully. "Something."

"What?" I asked excitedly. "Was it about killing someone?" I paused, scrunching up my nose at the next thought. "Or are you a drug dealer?"

He looked at me with his eyebrows drawn together. "Why do I feel that you dislike the idea of me being a drug dealer more than me killing someone?"

I shrugged. "I dunno. Drug dealing's stupid."

"Not to drug dealers and drug addicts." We reached the office and walked in.

The office was just as I remembered from my sovereign here earlier. The walls were a sickly green and there was a long metallic desk. A long bench sat against one wall and bulletin board was pushed up against the nasty green color.

And that darn overly flashy High-heel tape dispenser was still sitting there.

Obviously she didn't even use it. Maybe she should have spent that money on a radio to give the room a comfortable atmosphere.

Music was exactly what this room needed.

The secretary sat behind the desk and Lux was slumped in a chair pulling on a piece of dark blonde hair, looking almost painfully bored.

"Hey, Mom." Hunter said to the secretary, kissing her cheek over the desk as she pursed her lips at him, a knowing glint in her brown eyes.

Was Hunter, Mason's brother? Somehow that didn't quite fit.

I looked at him strangely, but he merely grinned at me.

"Hunter Michael Baron." She growled sounding purely demonic. "What did I tell you about ending up here one more time this week."

Hunter's grin widened, but he attempted a pair of puppy dog eyes. Those needed some serious practice before he tried playing them on the field ever again.

"Sorry." He told the women, very unconvincingly. "But Sharon, I promise it was all her fault!" He pointed to me. My mouth dropped open in shock.

Ms. Riley's eyes widened at the sight of me. She groaned as if in physical pain. "Miss Jayne." Her voice was slow and exact as if she were waiting for me to disappear. I smiled to her, trying to make it pleasant.

"Hi!" I chirped. “It's really good seeing you again!”

"I called your house and your parent is on their way over." She told me, staring down at a slip of paper, completely lacking the sweetness that I had purposely sent her way.

"Why? Can't you just send them a letter or something?" I asked helplessly. If Mom found out I got in trouble I could kiss tomorrow goodbye.

This was what she got for not giving me the extra time I needed to make myself a socially acceptable human being. Silly women sending me to school two days after we moved in.

"We like doing this personally to make sure the parents know for sure what happened." She replied, pursing her faintly drawn on lips.

The door swung open and I turned, expecting to face my death within a petite Asian form.

Instead I grinned.

What I saw was most definitely not a petite Asian women.

"Stefan!" I chirped excitedly. Lux's head shot up and his eyes turned to instant slits.
