A grin wound up on my face as I stared at the disturbing exchange between Mason and Lux Her face was bright red as Lux spoke to her, smiling boyishly. She giggled shortly her hand and his hand wrapped together.

They are too cute.

It's disgusting.

"I don't like it." Noah grunted sassily. I looked over to him, cocking an eyebrow. His dark brown hair mussed up and his eyes slitted, like two coin slots. He looked similar to a grumpy little boy ready for a nap.

"Why not?" I asked, though it was clear. He was just being an annoying older brother, which was something I understood all too well.

He pouted, pushing the little boy look even farther. "Cause...She's my baby sister and she's right in front of me flirting with your brother...not that I have a problem with your brother, but still." From the other side of the round table Mason slapped Lux's arm playfully, causing Noah to groan as if in physical pain from seeing his kid sister flirting.

I chuckled. "You're being overprotective Pops." I paused. "Hey, meaningful question. Where is your dad?"

Noah shrugged. "He hasn't been around since we were kids. I guess he's living in New Orleans now trying to be a jazz singer."

"Really? I thought your mom just divorced a couple years ago though..."

"She did, that's our step dad. Or, technically Ex-step dad, but I still consider him to be one. He's Roger, not a bad guy, just not good for Mom."

"Huh, I'm sorry about that then." I frowned, realizing that I technically just pried and made Noah look even more uncomfortable.

It was so foreign to me for people to have unconventional home lives where you didn't always have your Mom and your Dad around. It was something I never knew and so as a kid it was like it didn't even exist.

"I'm so happy to be with you Baby." Lux said to Mason, smiling in that same boyish way.

Mason flushed and I felt the need to scold her.

I opened my mouth, prepared to speak.

"Do girls actually like being called Baby?" Hunter's voice chimed in from behind me.

Mason rolled her eyes.

I scowled.

"Yeah, obviously."

"God no."

Mason looked at me, scrunching her eyebrows.

"What?" I asked, raising my own.

"What's wrong with being called Baby? It's sweet!"

"Uh, I'll explain it to ya Mase." Hunter began. "Most guys view the generic baby as needy, unwanted and time consuming."

I nodded. "When a guy calls you baby he's basically saying you can't take care of yourself, you require constant attention, and he's terrified of your existence and doesn't want it until he grows up himself. He actually probably doesn't think he wants it at all. It's insulting."

"Girls who actually think it's sweet are fooling themselves." Hunter finished. "And not to sound like a prude or some shit like that-"

"Don't worry Hunter, no one thinks that." I smiled sweetly at him.

He grinned, ruffling my hair. "Thanks Sweets. As I was saying, girls who let guys call them that are actually disrespecting themselves."

"For a jerk you're quite the feminist. some estranged girl may actually grow to like you someday." I told him. He stuck out his tongue and I followed suit.
