Chapter 14- The "Full Detailed Report"

Chloe's POV

The next day upon seeing the large double door entrance to school, I am suddenly reminded that I had promised Zoey, Kylie and Silena that I would give them a "full, detailed report" about what Jake and I did yesterday. Oh my god, what on earth am I supposed to say? I am 99.99999% sure that Jake does not want me spilling out his family issues to anyone, even my friends, but on the other hand, lying to my best friends was unthinkable.

"Hey Chloe! What are you doing just standing outside?" Kylie springs up from behind me.

"Oh...umm just...thinking." I reply vaguely, panic flaring up inside me.

"Right! You have to tell all of us about what happened yesterday! Come on, let's go find Zoey and Silena before first period." She exclaims, before running into the school.

Just then, the bell rings and I thank my lucky stars that I can prolong that conversation. Then realising I am about to be late, I rush off towards AP Calculus.

Once I am out the door of class, several hands grab at me and pull me away from the crowd.

"Wha--..."

"Come on! We need to get to the bleachers!"

Yup, that was definitely Silena. I sigh, trying to ignore the turmoil my mind is in. To tell, or not to tell?

"Chloe! SPILL!" Zoey all but shouts at me once she seats me down.

"Oh...umm..well..." I begin, uncomfortable with them all staring intently at me, waiting for me to continue, "We went to his house, and he was err nice? He offered me drinks and stuff and even opened the car door for me."

"Chloe, Chloe, Chloe. That's part of his act. To be all gentlemanly and polite. Then later when you've fallen into that false sense of security, he makes his move, and seduces you!" Kylie whispers dramatically, a worried look in her eyes.

Just then, I spot Jake just a few feet away from us chatting amicably with his gang, but the tense muscles in his shoulders tell me that he is listening to every word of our conversation. Well, time to lie then...

"No, it was nothing like that! After that we got straight down to the project and laid out the foundations...and then Jake got a call and said he had to leave."

"Wait what? So you guys didn't get much done at all..." Zoey has a confused look on her face.

"Maybe he's trying out a different tactic on Chloe? After all, he may be playing hard to get..." Kylie wonders.

"OR he could actually just be busy! Chillax guys, nothing happened!" I cut in, and hopefully preventing them from jumping to conclusion.

"Even so, I think it's high time we talk to Jake, Chloe." Silena says thoughtfully.

Oops...Well...at least they believed my bad lying skills...
