Guards have been searching all France for Diane, but they can’t seem to find her. They have confided this with King Henry, although just the part that Diane may be the woman in black cloak, and he was filled with rage knowing that her official mistress the woman who stood by him when his marriage is falling apart did this, and for what.

They may be busy in locating Diane but that wouldn’t stop the preparation for the nuptials of the two royals.

It is the day of their wedding and Francis and Mary couldn’t be more excited. They were having breakfast by the lake. “I can’t wait.” Francis said kissing Mary. “Me too. I can’t wait to start our forever.” Then Kenna walked into them. “Mary. It’s time. You should see the dress. It’s wonderful.” Kenna said. “I’ll see you later Francy! I’ll be in white, I think there’s gold too.” “And I’ll be in black and gold.” They kissed and walked straight back inside the castle.

“It’s time daughter.” Marie said to Mary as the maids are finishing her hair. “You look beautiful. Francis will be pleased.” Marie continued. “Thank you Mother.” “Can we talk?” “Of course Mother. Are you done with my hair Margot?” “Yes your grace.” Margot curtsied and left. “What is it mother?” “Well, I would want to talk to you about this after your honeymoon, but I won’t be here so, it is your duty to produce heirs to strengthen the bond..” Marie was cut off by Mary.  “Mother, I know. I will tell you something, but you must keep it a secret.” Mary said and Marie nodded. “Mother, the reason that even though in King Henry’s announcement that Francis and I will be wed within the year then it became within the month is because..” Mary took a deep breath. Not sure if her mother will take her news well. “Francis and I. Well, we, are. We’re expecting a baby.” Marie’s in shock. Then her shock turned to a smile. “That is wonderful my daughter. You’re not yet showing. How long are you?” “Almost a month. You’re not mad? Because Catherine scolded Francis about taking my virtue before marriage and of course Henry gave him a ‘good job son’ comment.” “Mad? No. Disappointed? Yes. Didn’t Catherine and the Nuns taught you anything? Upset? A little.” “Upset? Why?” “Because you didn’t tell me sooner.” “I’m sorry mother. I was just scared of telling you. I don’t want to make you think that I’m not a good enough daughter for you.” “Mary, yes. You are not good enough, because you my dear daughter, is more than I ever expected my daughter would be. You are not ‘enough’, you are more than enough. I am blessed to have a daughter like you. Smart. Compassionate. Beautiful. Kind. I couldn’t ask for anyone else. I am just sorry that I’m not the mother you wanted me to be. At least you have Catherine.” Mary felt happy at what her mother said. Although the last part hit her in the heart. “Mother. I love you. I didn’t know that my relationship with Catherine bothers you. I know we have a connection and the two of us spends so much time together. But mother, those letters we exchange for years are treasures that I will keep forever in my heart.” Mary said. And the mother and daughter have the longest hug they ever had in years. Then suddenly a thought came to Marie’s mind.

“Daughter?” “Yes?” "You will be watched by several French and Scots, your ladies, Vatican, the kings and queens of Spain and England, Austria, Norway, Greece, Portugal, Italy and almost the whole Europe. How in the world are you and Francis will prove that you are… A virgin? “Don’t worry mother, we got it covered.” Mary gave her an assuring smile. Mary and Marie went to the carriage that will bring them to the church at Notre Dame.

On the ride to Notre Dame their carriage was stopped by a group of what they believe were pagans. The guards tried to stop them. Mary was in panic inside the carriage. ‘Why do they have to attack now?’ ‘Why didn’t I bring my dagger?’ ‘I need to be alive for my baby!’ Mary thought. Then they heard them chanting.

“Mary. Stay calm.” Marie said.

Mary’s ladies carriage went first and a messenger was following them to the church. Mary’s ladies were at the entrance when the messenger reported to them about what is happening to the queen’s carriage. Kenna barge in the church door. “What do you think you’re doing?” Catherine said. “The queen’s carriage is being attacked by pagans, the messenger said it’s like a whole troop. The guards are out numbered!” Francis was angered by this news. “Bash, are there enough guards here?” “I think so. What do you want me to do?” “Come with me. We’re going to save my bride!” Francis said running outside. The other Kings of Europe sent their men to help. “Francis!” Catherine said. “Mother, I’m going!” “I know. Keep her safe.” And then they left.
