Jessie's POV
Petra shook with how hard she gripped the sword in her fist, it almost scared me. But after I slipped into that coma-like state? I'm not sure I'll fear anything again. I ready a hand on her shoulder as gently as possible so I don't spook her, and it works. She turns her head to face me, and I see a tear running down her cheek. Something had upset her, and I hated that. Inodded to the sword. "I can do that if you want." I whisper so only she can hear. The Master could've heard, but I didn't think it would pay attention as its legs were currently crushed. Her head shook in response, folding her wings onto her back. "N-No." She stutters, making me take a step back, "I've got this." She growls, wiping the tear away from her cheek with a glove before glaring down at the monster that was the cause of this entire thing. I nodded, understanding.
After all, in some way or form, this thing was her responsibility to her, and she wanted to finish what she couldn't during the Wither Storm.
Chapter 25- The End
She took a semi-step forward, glaring down at the thing at her feet with so much hatred I swear it came off her in waves. It looked up at her, the lava flowing from its 'eyes' burning at the skull it calls a head. "You'll ne-never fully get ri-rid of me y'know." It chokes out, a grin plastered on its face, even more psychotic than before. It knew it was the end, it just wanted its last few gashes.
I watched from the side as the red head slowly raised the sword up so it was just over this thing's head, and she held it there, glaring down at it like she was trying to decide on it. Then, she lowered the sword and dropped it to the side. "I'm not gonna kill you. You might thinks its mercy or even weakness. Its not. You will be stuck like this forever instead." With those words she crushed part of the skull with her foot, making a roar of pain come from The Master. She destroyed one of its eyes, leaving a huge hallow hole in its head. Some lava dripped from what she did, some purple ooze following it. His powers are disabled if one eye is crushed. I'm not sure how I know it, but it felt like someone had told me, trying to give me some sort of hint.
Petra began to walk away, Lukas sharing a glance with me before rushing to follow. Axel and Olivia nodded to me before following. I waited til they were all down the hall. The sword was cold as I held in in the palm of my hand, wishing for my armor more and more. I'd have to pick it up after.
"You think she's teaching you something? She's not. She's giving you a taste of what the rest of us felt when getting here. And she might not want to kill you, heck you could be here forever for all she cares. But you're useless now." I growl, making it stare up at me with a pained look with a single good eye. "But I care. And I will kill you because even if its like this, after all the things you've done? You don't deserve even this way of living." I've never spoken this harsh to anyone, and I guess I've figured that out by now.
It hurt the one I've figured out I love, and I'm not okay with that. It hurt my friends. Killed innocent people. All of it was too much for this world. It didn't say a word, and I wish it would. It'd make it easier. Without a word I lifted the sword up above my head with two hands, before slamming the tip down into the remainder of the skull, hearing the cracking sound as it hit rock below.
It felt sick to do such a thing to anyone, and I'm pretty sure a tear or two was running down my face, but as The Master poofed away I shook my head. "Good ridance." Then, I walked towards the hallway, grabbing my stuff and following the others.
--------------
The world had no clue of the terrors we had faced, and we didn't plan on telling them. Adventures kept coming, jobs and problem would come up, but nothing to give happened after the death of The Master. For the most part we had gone back to normal. Despite Petra having wings now, that rose questions, but we never had an answer, not ever she did really. Apparently it was all misty after she died and didn't remember most of it.
"Jessie!" Petra calls throughout the halls of the temple, making me look up from the book Lukas had given me from the library. I saw her zoom through the halls past my door, using her wings for speed before she realizes she's passed it, and comes back. "Jessie! Great! I found you!" She breathes a sigh of relief. I smile, nodding for her to go on.
"I need your help with something." She breathes out, trying to catch her breath. I saw her like this and I could help but play a small, tiny prank.
"Tahw htiw?" I ask, expertly using backwards speak like it was my first language. I swear her eyes bulged out of her head as her mouth hung open. I couldn't help it, the laughter I tried to choke down came up and forced past my lips, I had to clutch my stomach. "Nice face." I sputter, grinning up at her. She shakes her head, does a double take, then realizes what I've done.
Then I realize what I've done. "Oh you're so gonna get it." She growls playfully, making my eyes widen. I duck under her wings as I rush for the door, making it out and bolting down the hall to the fastest route outside I could get. I could hear the familiar sound of her feet hitting the ground hard as she fought to catch up by running unbelievably fast. "You'll have to catch me first!" I call back, seeing the determined look to catch me when I looked back. Once I reached the garden in he back, which was pretty big, I realized I had take the wrong door outside. There was nowhere to hide out here. As I looked around frantically I didn't even notice Petra had caught up, and was now jumping to tackle me to the ground. It worked well. I had spinning in time but now attacked, and now here I was, back pressed into the grass with my hands held on either side of my head.
The red head held me down with a cocky grin, looking like she just accomplished some great task. "Ha! That's revenge for almost getting my bandana covered in mud." She laughs, making me roll my eyes. "That was maybe moths ago Petra?" I point out, making her lean down to be slightly closer to me than I would normally like. "Then maybe my revenge card is still pretty full." She whispered. My cheeks heated up at how close she was to my own face, and I'm not sure I wanted her to leave either.
Then she pulled away, a smug look on her face as she did. Eyes widening I noted her form of revenge. "Uh-un. You're not getting away with that." I smile, turning the tables when she didn't expect it, now pinning her to the ground. It was her turn to look embarrassed. With a glance into her eyes I let my lips touch hers, and pulled away again. It might have been slightly longer than I thought because Petra's eyes had closed. She opened them again and we locked eyes.
"If you guys are done doing whatever it is this is-" Lukas laughs for the door, making g us both look up to see his face red with the laughter her was holding in. "We have a meeting with Ivor in the treasure room." He shook his head before walking away, still ltryi g to keep himself from laughing his head off.
I handy noticed, but Petra's wings had wrapped around us, and we both looked down at each other and burst into laugher, my head ending up resting against her shoulder when my arms gave out. Finally we calmed down and she got both of us to our feet.
"C'mon. Let's meet the others." She smiles. As we walked hadn in hand, I couldn't help but feel as if this was how it was meant to go.
