Jessie's POV

I could feel my head pounding, I could hear it in my ears, but something else was coming through almost as clear. The heartbeat of the redhead holding me as she walked. It was fast, in a nervous way, and if I wasn't in serious pain in this moment, the irregular heartbeat would have concerned me.

But, even though I feel terribly selfish for saying so, I have a sinking feeling at this point that Jennifer was wrong. Maybe there aren't six or whatever symptoms. Maybe there are less. The thought frightened me. I wasn't ready to die. So many things I needed to do, wanted to do.

So many things I've never been able to tell people.

Chapter Sixteen- The Trials Part Three

The Trail was following us, Petra kept telling me that it was something Lukas had said to him to make him tag along. Lukas has always been kidna good with words, so that's really understandable. Though I think I'm better with inspirational speeches than he is.

Olivia was talking to Jennifer, and I was surprised to see the girl speaking back. I didn't pick u pon what exactly, but they looked friendly. It was nice to see Olivia getting along with someone new again, after all she doesn't talk to other people much. Though I found it kinda strange that Axel was in on the conversation too, talking to both girl's as if they had all been friends for ages.

"Jessie? You doing okay?" Petra asked for about the hundreth time in the last two minuets. I nodded, still hiding my head against her shoulder as she walked.

The moon casted only a tiny bit of light for our walk, but I didn't get to see much of it as I was too busy trying to numb the pain attacking my brain, which wasn't working in my favor all that well.

"Jennifer, please tell me the tunnels are close. We need that cure." Petra says urgently, making me hear the unsiad part of her sentence. Before she dies, that's what she left out. Jen didn't really answer the question, not that I heard anyway, and I assumed that maybe I was right.

This wasn't a symptom, I probably wasn't going to go through another one, and I was going to die soon. I just hoped it wouldn't be soon. And I guess the upside to this was not going through the stage of just blurting everything out, so plus there, minuses everywhere else.

The heartbeat of Petra was the only thing that made a clear sound the got through the pain, the only thing reminding me that I'm not dead yet. That in actually still here.

"Duck!" Lukas' voice calls out, making Petra drop to the ground, shielding me from whatever was going on that I couldn't see. Her hand guarded my eyes, but I got a chance to peer over it, seeing an axe sticking out of the ground not even a centimeter away.

Her brown eyes seem to linger on the death-weapon for all if a split second befir going back to checking on me, looking beyond worried. "You okay?" She breathes, being a little to close to me for my liking.

Mt heart belated a thousand miles a second, and I gulped, wishing she would get up and not be so close anymore. "Y-Yeah." I stuttered out, trying to gulp down the lump if fear stuck in my throat. Petra seemed to notice, and went to open her mouth to ask but was yanked away, by another trial.

She was around Lukas' size, but held Petra effortlessly by her collar, like she weighed the equivilant of a feather. Her almost reddish-orange eyes blazed as she held the girl I hold closest to my heart, ready to smash her against the clay beneath her feet.

"You! The destruction of almost half this world is your fault!" She screetched, making Petra cringe. It wasn't all that noticeable, but it was there. She felt guilty about giving that skull to Ivor. "Look, I'm tired of hearing that! It was a mistake that I helped fix!" She snaps, looking almost equally as pissed.

The trial threw her to the ground next to me, making me flinch when small drops of dirt showered my body, a small 'oof' sounding from the redhead already pushing herself to her feet, brushing the tiny blocks of dirt stuck to her armor.

"You just pushed the wrong person too far." She spits, lunging for the girl. The two battled to the ground trying and failing to pin one or the other down against the ground to win, and maybe even take the pinning to a more dark level if needed. I don't think I was ready to see something like that in this state.

The group seemed to jump back in shock, and I could barely hear anything they shouted as my heartbeat filled my ears. Olviia shouted, looking scared. Axel sheilded Jen oddly enough. Lukas and the trial guy, who I think he just called Ken were trying to break them up, but none seemed to notice something important.

The ground was moving, shifting as it slipped downwards. I try to let out some sort of warning, but I'm not even sure I'm making noise, my heartbeat blocks that out too, making me shake uncontrollably as we start to move down at a much noticeable pace.

Finally I can hear, and I notice that somehow Petra has won the fight, pinning down the girl. But, the pain stopped. I don't feel it anymore. Its as if.... As if.... Well I don't know frankly.

"Where are the rest of the trials!" Petra demanded, making the girl beneath her tremble, making me beyond thankful that our 'fights' never got that intense. The girl covered her face, wanting to sheild it from the possibility of getting hit as she all but squealed, "They left! All of them! They hears you were coming to destroy the Master and decided not to stick around to see what the outcome would be! None of them wanted to see what you would do to all of 'em if you won!"

The ground started to shake violently, making everyone realize that something wasn't right. "Jen?" Olivia asks, trying to stay balanced as the shaking got dangerously rough, the blocks beneath our feet seeming to start crumbling away.

"He will destroy ever single one of you! You cannot win this battle! And just remember that its your fault for being a part of the creation of The Storm!" The trial cried out as she kicked Petra off of her and towards me, making the two of us slide against the ground, Petra gasping at the hard blow to her stomach.

"You will feel his wrath! And the world will see true terror!" She screeched before jumping away as the ground collapsed beneath us, letting us fall with the only sound being the wind, and our screams.

...

Hey guys. So I'm actually trying to update more now, so lucky you guys I suppose. Anyway, I regret to inform you all that this story will be soon coming to a close. The end is neigh, and hopefully you all enjoy the ending. And hopefully I won't be killed by chainsaws before I get to that point.
