Before you are born , the Soulmate Agency reviews the files of your parents, trying to figure out what traits they'd pass down to you. Then, you get matched up with a list of possible soulmates. Once your born and continue through an infant and a child, your file gains more information, narrowing down the list of possible soul mates.

By your 13th birthday, two are left, a girl and a boy. The Soulmate Agency made sure that everyone supports the LGBT+, all throughout the world. Then, on your 13th birthday, you go to the head Soulmate Agency near you, telling them your preference of gender to date. Then, your Soulmate list narrows down to one, and you get your countdown bar installed, the wrist of your lesser-dominant hand. Then, your countdown starts.

Everyone's countdown varies. The shortest time recorded was a little under 3 hours, and the longest time recorded was 57 years. When Ashton first got his bar installed, he had 4 and a bit years to wait.

When you first meet your Soulmate, it's always an accident, and never on purpose. Sometimes they can be your best friend, other times, they can live across the world. After you and your Soulmate meet, you both get a letter from the Agency, giving you a date and time for your meeting with them. The meeting is to make sure you are 100% compatible, and they're usually right 99.99% of the time. The last time they were wrong, unfortunately it was a girl in Ashton's school. She was heartbroken, but soon found her new Soulmate after, and now they're in love and going strong. After they confirm that you and your Soulmate are compatible, you get your bars taken out. Then, you're allowed to start dating. You can take as much time, or as little time, as you want to date before you get engaged, married, and start a family.

The Soulmate Agency is the, understandably, the best idea the world has ever come up with collectively. The system works almost flawlessly, and it helped provide new jobs working in the agency, and more people have more money and more freedoms because divorces are nonexistent.
