Chapter- 20

She inhales sharply and says, "Yes, he is."

This time it is Klaus's turn to get shocked.

"Alright then, I guess you haven't told your parents. Else they would never have asked me to  see you in first place." Aleck says.

She looks up to him to say, but Aleck continues, "Don't you worry, I'll not tell them a thing. If they ask, I'll say it went well. Or you may mould it up as you wish" he smiles genuinely.

"Thank you for that, but why are you doing this?"

"I saw what happened. That guy was a psycho. He needs a psychiatrist. I would not lie, I wanted to intervene the issue, but when he punched the waiter, I kind of freaked out. But then came this gentleman," he smiles at Klaus. To which Klaus smiles back and extends his hand, "Klaus".

Aleck shakes his hand, "Nice meeting you Klaus. So when Klaus came, the whole scene transformed. Caroline, you deserve him. He is protective of you. I am happy for both of you. So congratulations on your engagement."

She somehow manages to return him a smile of hers, but fails miserably. Klaus says, "Thank you Aleck. I guess she is in a state of shock right now. But she appreciates your wishes."

'What is happeneing? The days is getting worse.' she thinks. She has no idea where her life is heading to, she starts laughing at her own condition.

Klaus and Aleck give her weird looks. Klaus says finally, "I think I need to take her away from all of this." Aleck nods and leaves.

Klaus takes the chair opposite to a still laughing Caroline, "Are you okay?" He asks in a worried tone.

Caroline takes a deep breath and with a smile, she nods.

"Let's get you out of here." He says and offer her his hand. She places her hand in his and is comforted with the warmth of his hands. She always thought of his hands as cold and hard, but instead they were exactly opposite.

"Okay", she smiles meekly.

He takes her to his car and holds door for her. Then he rushes to the driver's side and gets in. He takes her to an Indian restaurant. The cozy atmosphere of that place calms her nerves.

Klaus initiates the conversation, "I found this place long ago. It's small but I like it in here. It helps me to think when I'm here. Besides that, I love spicy food here. If you don't like in here we can leave. But I thought you need some place to relax so..."

"No its fine. Its nice here actually.", tears start rolling down her cheeks.

Klaus bends towards her and takes her hand in his, "Hey, It's okay."

"I am sorry for crying", she whispers.

"Stop being a cry baby Caroline. I don't have a whole day for you." He says playfully, but she takes it as an offense.

"You want me to go then? You are a selfish jerk! Don't you have a heart?" she says fuming with anger, her tears a history.

"See, that made you forget, that was bothering you." he smiles.

She tried.

She tried again, but this time could not hold it any longer. She burst into laughter.
