deep into the night
i listen carefully
begging
to hear the sound
of your heart
of your breathing
as you sleep.
anything
to tame these thoughts
so i can sleep
beside you
as well.
but nothing
is all i hear
and my body aches
as it continues
to wait
and everything seems
so damn lost
without you here.
i can't sleep
when i'm not home.
