forelsket

rose garden

she told him she loved him
like the moon loved the stars
and he told her he hated her
like the the cat to the mouse.
but she grabbed onto his legs
anyway
because she didn't know how to walk
without him.
so he dragged her on the ground
and never gave her a hand
to help pick her up
and carry her safely.
her arms bled
and her thighs began to show bone
but she never let go
even when it started to become faint.
finally
he stomped upon her hands
and looked down at her
and said he will never want her.
as he walked away
the fragments of her mind
began to crumble
until her thoughts were no more.
with the quiet
she stood up
and moved on her own
with no heart inside her chest.
vines wrapped around her ribcage
planting seeds inside her
empty mind
until a flowers began to grow.
and next to her
appeared another boy
but with vines in his mind
and a rose in his heart.
she tried to pay no mind
to the boy that said
she was his moon and his stars
and she tried to be the cat to the mouse.
but then he gave her his hand
to help carry her safely
and she knew that now
the boy with the single rose in his heart
would soon find his way
to the garden in her mind.
