(Scene: The Ambrose's living room + Kitchen - a decent looking place, very light colours on the wall - not what you would expect from a vampire family)
(There's a sofa in the middle of the stage)
(There are two suitcases already in the living room)
(Mrs Rose Ambrose is sat on the sofa)
(Mr Luke Ambrose and Isaac Ambrose are wheeling in suitcases)
(Characters onstage: Mr Luke Ambrose, Mrs Rose Ambrose and Isaac Ambrose)
Narrator: This is the Ambrose family, they are kind and caring but not your typical people or your monsters, in fact, I wouldn't call them monsters. They are just like you and me, the humans in this world. Only difference is... this family drink blood but they don't kill people, oh no, not at all. Mrs Ambrose is a nurse you see so they manage to feed AND not hurt anyone! They truly are amazing people... vampires, you get it I'm sure. This is the families newly decorated home, you see they have been living in an abandoned house while their work was getting done.
Mr Luke Ambrose: Come on sun, we need these suitcases in... They are so heavy!
(Mr Luke Ambrose pulls it towards the sofa)
Isaac Ambrose: Even using my vampire strength I can barely pull this! What have you go in this mother? Bricks?!
(Mrs Rose Ambrose laughs)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: No! Of course not! I have statues in it!
Mr Luke Ambrose: Woman! you're meant to put clothes in them! you didn't use statues in the hotel! For goodness sake! Isaac, let me get that, you rest, we don't want you being thirsty in school, being thirsty in a room full of students isn't exactly going to be pleasant.
(Isaac Ambrose lets go of the suitcase and sits down next to Mrs Rose Ambrose)
Isaac Ambrose: You're right father but how will I go to school? Remember most schools start in the daylight hours and I'm pretty sure my skin burning will be the great giveaway!
(Mr Luke Ambrose sighs and looks through his case)
Mr Luke Ambrose: I know I packed it, I put in her somewhere...
(Mr Luke Ambrose keeps searching)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: Put what where?
(Mr Luke Ambrose keeps searching)
Mr Luke Ambrose: The sunblock!
(Mrs Rose Ambrose points to one of her own suitcase)
(Mr Luke Ambrose pulls out the sun-cream from one of Mrs Rose Ambrose's suitcases)
(Mr Luke Ambrose hands it to Isaac Ambrose)
(Isaac Ambrose looks at it)
Isaac Ambrose: SPF 80? Will this protect me from the sunlight?
(Mrs Rose Ambrose nods)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: But son, stay out the midday sun and please try to keep to the shade and of course, top up often.
Isaac Ambrose: Yes mum, I will now please calm down, I'm old enough to look after myself so please chill out. I'll be fine tomorrow, I promise! Everything will be ok, I'll keep myself to myself and avoid any of the humans like you want me to.
Mr Luke Ambrose: Son, it's not that we want you to avoid them, Your mother and I worry about you, humans don't always accept their own kind so we have little to no hope of them accepting our kind, just be careful son, don't get into any fights!
(Mrs Rose Ambrose cries)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: My baby is growing up! GIVE YOUR MOTHER A HUG!
(Isaac Ambrose reluctantly hugs his mother)
Isaac Ambrose: Ok thats enough mother, you're squeezing me!
(Mrs Rose Ambrose lets him go)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: Sorry son, I just love you so much, you know I worry about you! MY BABY!
Mr Luke Ambrose: Come on dear, that's enough, you need to get to work and pick up our food!
(Mrs Rose Ambrose glares at him)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: I do more than just pick up food! I SAVE LIVES!
(Exit Mrs Rose Ambrose - Stage right)
Isaac Ambrose: Thanks Dad, she was getting a little emotional there.
Mr Luke Ambrose: You're very welcome son! I know you will do well tomorrow! Just remember, stick to the shade and top-up often!
(Re-enter Mrs Rose Ambrose in her nurses outfit - stage Right)
Mrs Rose Ambrose: Well I'm off to work, I'll see you both later!
(Exit Mrs Rose Ambrose - Stage Left)
Mr Luke Ambrose: Son, it's getting late for humans, you must sleep now otherwise you'll be falling asleep all day and I can't come and collect you, you have the last of the sun protection.
Isaac Ambrose: DAD! I HAVE BEEN TO SCHOOL BEFORE! THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT IS THE FACTOR OF THE SUN CREAM!
(Exit Isaac Ambrose - Stage Right)
Mr Luke Ambrose: I worry about that boy
(Lights Dim)
(End of Part One)
