Part Twenty

(Scene: The Ambrose's household)

(Characters onstage: Narrator, Mr Luke Ambrose, Mrs Rose Ambrose and Caroline Ambrose)

Narrator: After an... eventful time, the Ambrose's wonder not only about their son but about their fate... Will they stay or will they go?

Mr Luke Ambrose: CAROLINE! YOU SHAMED THIS FAMILY! WE ARE NOT BEASTS THAT GO AROUND TEMPTING EACH-OTHER! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH DAMAGE YOU HAVE CAUSED FOR US?! FOR THIS FAMILY! I  COULD SO STAKE YOU FOR THIS!

Caroline Ambrose: YOU COULD BE STAKED FOR LETTING YOUR SON FALL IN-LOVE WITH A SLAYER! WHAT KIND OF VAMPIRE EVEN GETS TO KNOW A SLAYER LET ALONE FALLS IN-LOVE WITH ONE?!

Mrs Rose Ambrose: ENOUGH! YOU TWO ARE GIVING ME EARACHE! WHAT HAS BEEN DONE HAS BEEN DONE, WE CANNOT CHANGE IT NOW! ISAAC LOVES LOLA AND IF THAT IS HIS WISH THEN I WILL BE BEHIND HIM EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! I MEAN IT! HE IS MY SON AND I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE HIM!

Caroline Ambrose: EVEN IF IT MEANS SHAME IS BROUGHT ON THIS FAMILY?! DO YOU REALLY THINK OTHERS OF OUR KIND WILL ACCEPT THIS NEW WAY OF LIFE?! DO YOU THINK THEY WILL ACCEPT A SLAYER INTO A VAMPIRE FAMILY?!

Mrs Rose Ambrose: NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT HONOUR CAROLINE! WE MUST ACCEPT OUR SON'S CHOICE OF LOVER! EVEN IF IT MEANS SHAME IS BROUGHT TO THIS FAMILY! I WILL NOT LOSE MY SON! I CANNOT BEAR TO LOSE MY SON AS WELL AS EVERYTHING ELSE! IF YOU CAN'T ACCEPT THAT THEN GO!

Mr Luke Ambrose: ROSE! YOU CANNOT THROW MY SISTER OUT OF THIS HOUSE! THIS IS ABSURD! Look, just calm down and try to be rational, I will try and sort things out. The vampire's don't need to know about Lola, they won't come here to look at who he is dating.

Caroline Ambrose: I suppose you do have a point but still this is risky! What if they do find out?! What then?!

Mrs Rose Ambrose: Then we will cross that bridge, until then we leave it alone and don't draw attention to ourselves so the vampire council don't come here and come looking for us! Simple!

Mr Luke Ambrose: Good idea love!

(Enter Isaac Ambrose and Mr Archer - stage LEFT)

Isaac Ambrose: Mum, Dad, Aunt Caroline, this is Mr Archer, Lola's father. He just wants to talk to us like a normal family so please listen, hear him out.

Caroline Ambrose: Be distracted while he stakes us you mean! NO WAY! NO CHANCE! I WILL NOT STAND BY AND LET SOME SLAYER STAKE MY HEART! I SAY EAT HIM!

Mr Luke Ambrose: I say NO eating and NO slaying! Agreed?!

Mr Archer: Agreed

Isaac Ambrose: Agreed

Mrs Rose Ambrose: Well I agree, what about you Caroline?

Caroline Ambrose: Yeah, whatever, just get on with it! I have dinner to go find

Mr Archer: Then it's settled! I wanted to say that I accept Isaac as Lola's boyfriend and he and I have discussed the terms and agreements of that relationship, we both have come to an understand that he will continue to date my daughter as long as I don't see any fang marks made by him

Mrs Rose Ambrose: Well that is good but what about us? I mean us as a family, do we have to leave town or can we actually stay here and continue to live here?

Mr Archer: After a great deal of thought I have decided all your family but one member can stay, Caroline, you tried to hurt my daughter and encourage another to hurt her. Normally I would stake you for this but considering most of your family are actually decent for vampires, I will allow you to live but not in this world!

Caroline Ambrose: So where am I meant to live then? On mars?!

Isaac Ambrose: No, of course not!

Mr Luke Ambrose: I think what Mr Archer is trying to say is that you don't really suit the human world, you suit the supernatural world and you should live with your own kind. It was wrong of me to expect you to be different, you spent all your life there whereas I didn't. Like my son, I spent a lot of time here.

Caroline Ambrose: But... I will never see you again... I will spend eternity without you, without my little brother...

Isaac Ambrose: I'll miss you Caroline, even though you did try to eat my girlfriend and try to get me to eat her. You're still family so I still love you

Caroline Ambrose: This only makes it harder to leave you all behind... I don't want to go but I guess I have to go... I will miss you all so much!

Mr Luke Ambrose: Well I guess we will just have to work out a way around the portal situation... maybe you could ask the council for your own portal...

Caroline Ambrose: Oh no! No way! I don't do begging!

Mrs Rose Ambrose: Or get married and use your husbands portal...

Caroline Ambrose: Time to beg the council!

Mr Archer: Come back when you're ready to... I mean if you think you can fit in the human world... That is if you can handle it...

Caroline Ambrose: Oh I will come back, I will come back and maybe I will be a bit more like my brother, Luke but who knows? I mean I have an eternity to change...

Mrs Rose Ambrose: Well take the time to change Caroline, when you do come back, we will welcome you back her with open arms... I'll even save a room for you!

Mr Luke Ambrose: But you hate each-other?

Isaac Ambrose: I guess even father a few centuries Dad still can't seem to understand women... Oh well, he might... one day... if he's lucky!

(Enter Lola Archer - Stage Left)

Lola Archer: Has the deal been made? Can Isaac and his family stay here?!

Caroline Ambrose: All but one... I must go back to my own world until I learn to be like my brother... like that will ever happen! Anyway, I best be off! I don't want any of my family coming with me, I hate goodbyes!

Mr Archer: I'll come with you! I need to make sure you're actually going...

Isaac Ambrose: Mr Archer, if you'll wait for a minute... please... I have something to ask your daughter...

(Isaac Ambrose walks to Lola Archer and gets down on one knee)

Isaac Ambrose: Lola Archer... even though we are different people, will you do me the greatest honour and marry me?

(Lola Archer nods)

Lola Archer: Yes!

(All characters apart from Narrator, Lola Archer and Isaac Ambrose clap)

Caroline Ambrose: Yuck! I'm going!

(Exit Caroline Ambrose - Stage Left)

Mr Archer: Be good to her, I better make sure she's going...

(Exit Mr Archer - Stage LEFT)

(Lights dim)
