(Scene: The Ambrose's living room with a table and six chairs around it)
(Characters onstage: Narrator, Isaac Ambrose, Miss Caroline Ambrose, Mr Luke Ambrose and Mrs Rose Ambrose)
Narrator: Well, Isaac asked his beloved Lola to come round for dinner, lucky for him she did say yes... I just hope that they are not eating her for dinner... let us hope she won't be on the menu...
Mr Luke Ambrose: Son, are you sure she's coming round at six?
(Isaac Ambrose is pacing up and down)
Isaac Ambrose: That's what she said father. She said she would be here, what if she's not coming?! WHAT IS CAROLINE ATE HER?!
Miss Caroline Ambrose: WHY AM I DRAGGED INTO THIS?! I ALREADY AGREED TO HAVE DINNER WITH THE HUMAN, I WOULDN'T EAT HER BEFORE THEN, MY WORD IS THE LAW AND I NEVER BREAK IT!
Mrs Rose Ambrose: Oh calm down, she's probably late. Now, I have some burgers here, we can cook hers fully and eat ours... almost raw...
Mr Luke Ambrose: Why can't we eat blood bags? It's not like she doesn't know what we are! Darling, I cannot eat animal blood, I will starve! I will die of hunger, of starvation! You cannot do this to me! You cannot allow me to starve to death!
Mrs Rose Ambrose: Now, now Luke honey, you are already dead! So behave!
Miss Caroline Ambrose: Brother! Sweet brother of mine... SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING! NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT AND NO ONE CARES! YOU'VE DRAGGED ME HERE AND MADE ME AGREE TO STAY WHILE WE PLAY HUMAN SO PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF BLOOD! SHUT UP!
Isaac Ambrose: Aunt Caroline! PLEASE! STOP PICKING FIGHTS! I'M NERVOUS ENOUGH AS IT IS!
(Lola Archer knocks at the stage LEFT door)
Mrs Ambrose: She's here! Isaac! Get the door!
Isaac Ambrose: Yes mother!
(Isaac Ambrose opens the door and Lola Archer walks through it)
Lola Archer: Sorry I'm late, I was held up by traffic and... my dad didn't want me to go, he kept on saying that I should take a stake but don't worry... I didn't... Sorry... Hi, I'm Lola. (She looks at Mr Luke Ambrose) I take it you are Mr Ambrose and next to you has to be your very young wife Mrs Ambrose (She looks at Miss Caroline Ambrose)
Miss Caroline Ambrose: In his dreams, I'm his sister, Caroline.
Lola Archer: Oh, so the lovely lady doing the cooking must be Mrs Ambrose, Sorry I didn't think she would be, she looks so young... you all do... It's so unfair.
Mrs Rose Ambrose: Thank you dear, if I wasn't turned by my husband, I'd be in my 80's by now but like everything in this life, it has it's price. I have a beautiful son but I can only have one, one every two hundred years as an undead being. I have a long time to wait before I can have another child or find someone that I love and adore. It's sad really but that is sadly the way of our world.
Mr Ambrose: Indeed, I chose to love her forever, turned her when she was 18 so I could spend the rest of my immortality with her, she is my love, I loved her then and still do now even though I can see the hurt in her eyes as she counts the years.
Lola Archer: So Isaac... is he... are you... you know, never aging? Will you never age past your teens? Will you look this way... forever... I mean, can you... age...
Isaac Ambrose: When I am the human age of 21, I stop aging forever automatically but if I turn someone, I stop aging then and they don't age past the age they 'died' at so my mother stays looking young.
Lola Archer: Is it true you... sparkle?
(Miss Caroline Ambrose laughs)
(Lola Archer blushes)
Mr Luke Archer: No, we don't sparkle, sunlight has more of a burning effect on us, it's cruel but I guess it is just something we have to live with, well when I say 'live'... I mean go about our undead life in search of our next meal, I doubt your dad will make it easy for us to feed now.
Isaac Ambrose: Thanks Dad, thanks for making sure this conversation turned rather... awkward, sorry Lola, Father is constantly worried.
Mrs Rose Ambrose: DINNER! WHO WANTS SOME FOOD! COME ON! SIT DOWN AROUND THE TABLE!
(All Characters apart from narrator and Mrs Rose Ambrose go to the dinner table)
(Mrs Rose Ambrose brings out a nice looking meal)
Lola Archer: Wow! For a vampire, the food looks great!
(Enter Lady Mary Ambrose - Stage Left)
Miss Mary Ambrose: Sorry I'm silent, I didn't want to meet the human, I'm parched and slayer blood is just so... tempting!
Mr Luke Ambrose: ENOUGH MARY! YOU WILL NOT TOUCH HER! SHE IS A GUEST OF THIS HOUSE! YOU WILL TREAT HER LIKE THAT! YOU WILL TREAT HER LIKE A MEMBER OF THIS FAMILY! IF NOT LEAVE! I MEAN IT! GO!
Isaac Ambrose: THIS IS WHAT I DIDN'T WANT TO HAPPEN! I WANTED LOLA TO HAVE A NICE MEAL AND MEET MY FAMILY SO THAT SHE COULD SEE THAT WE ARE ACTUALLY NORMAL AND THEN I COULD ACTUALLY ASK HER TO BE MY GIRLFRIEND!
Mr Luke Ambrose: Well done son, well done!
Lola Archer: You... you were going to ask me to be you're girlfriend... that's.... SO CUTE!
Isaac Ambrose: Yes but I... I want... I mean I need to ask your dad for permission... you before I ask you to be my girlfriend...
Lola Archer: You mean before you bite me?! BEFORE YOU TURN HIM?!
(Lola Archer goes to Exit - Stage Left)
(Isaac Ambrose grabs her arm)
Isaac Ambrose: Lola, I would never do that, never. I mean it Lola, I couldn't do that to you!
(Lights Dim)
