"I think I ate too much." I say wanting to slouch back but decide not to and sit up straight instead.
"So you-" Kendall starts but gets interrupted by my phones ringtone.
"It's Zayn, excuse me." I politely leave and enter the small room. I close the door before answering.
"Hey!" I say trying to be cheerful mood.
"Your mother told me what happened! why didn't you call me?!" Zayn voiced filled with anger.
"Calm down, I was just about to call you." I feel horrible for lying.
"Where are you staying?" His voice a bit calmer now.
"Kendall's apartment. He's an old friend of mine."
There's a short silence between us.
"Can't you stay at a hotel on something?"
"I'm low on cash." I admit
"I'll transfer money to your account." He tells me instead of asking.
"Zayn, you know I won't take money from you!" I had too much self respect to take money from anyone. I worked day and night to gather money for this trip even though my mother offered to pay I refused her.
"You can pay me back?" He tries to negotiate.
"Zayn love I'm only here for two nights. I'll be there next to you in no time." I was too tired to be taking this conversation further. "I'm really tired, i'll talk to you in the morning." I look at the rectangular digital clock hung on the wall. It's only 8.10.
"Yeah are you staying in the same room?." He ask.
"No! He's got a spare room. And are you doubting me?!" I say a bit louder. Letting him know I'm angry.
"No of course not!"
"Good!"
"I'll let you rest." Zayn says before hanging up not letting me speak.
I lay wide awake at 4 am. Tossing and turning trying to get comfortable in the unfamiliar bed.
I get up to get a glass of water too see the balcony door open.
"Hey," I find Kendall leaning forwards on the rails with a cigarette in his hand.
"Couldn't sleep?"
"Nope." I sit down on a chair with a blanket wrapper around me.
I stare up at him as he exhales the deadly smoke. His lips perfectly pursed with a sharp long jawline.
"Do you want some?" Kendall catches me starring at him.
"No, no. Smoking's bad for you."
"It shortens the days of a person." He takes a seat next to me after placing the smoke in an ash tray.
"Why would anyone want to shorten there days?"
"Because not everyone likes living."
"Who wouldn't want to live? it's the most beautiful experience."
"It's not always beautiful." Kendall's shorts answers had so much mystery
"Everyone doesn't have a perfect love like you." He said after letting go of his breathe.
"Who said I had a perfect life?" I felt offended by his comment.
It's true though. My mum was a single working mother. She worked day and night to give me the best life she could, but during it I spent most of my time alone in our small house while she worked.
"It sure looked like you had the perfect life. Hanging out with the 'cool kids' with your new shoes and branded cloths."
"More like second hand." I say under my breathe.
"Second hand? yeah right."
I tell Kendall about the struggle we went to moving from house to house. It's funny how no one ever suspected a thing not even my so called close friends knew.
"So what about you?" I ask Kendall about him after telling him my life story.
"Don't think so"
"Oh come one! I told you something know one knew about me. So it's your turn now."
"I never asked you to tell me."
I make pouty face.
"Some other time. Maybe." He says
