Three cats gathered at a straight pool. "It's time isn't it?" Asked the first
"Time for what?" Replied the second, while the third remained silent. The third laid her head on her black paws. The first looked away, her eyes darkened by the shadow. "To talk to the dark," the first replied, unsheathing her claws. "The clan is starving..." The first cat brought her claws on a tree stump. "Although I don't want to do this.... I have to.." Reluctantly, the first cat turned toward the Twoleg place. "Bye.... I guess," she said sadly. The second cat made a incomprehensible sound of Sorrow while the third remained silent. Silence fell as soon as the first cat's footsteps faded away. Silence was broken by the growling of the second cat's stomach. He sighed. "Well we better go back to the camp to see what leftovers are there," his voice was morose. The third looked up, her eyes full of starlight. Then she spoke for the first time. "Miststar is a fine leader, I'm.... Sorry I couldn't see it..." The third cat's voice was weak. "Snakepelt, go on without me..." Snakepelt, the second, nearly screamed. "Blackberry, we need you! Tulippaw needs you!" Blackberry looked up, her gaze warm. "I'm sorry, Snake...pelt.... Good...bye..." Blackberry's head fell onto her paws, her eyes closed. Snakepelt screamed. "Another one gone, StarClan why have you forsaken us!?" Snakepelt's eyes filled with tears. "Bye.....mother....." Snakepelt sat down and watched as Blackberry's spirit arose from her body, calm and gentle. Blackberry looked at him, her eyes ghostly and ethereal. The spirit floated over to him. "Now that I'm dead," she said,"I finally know what my Apprentice's destiny is..."
