A/N: the song that inspired this was "Starving" by Hailee Steinfeld & Grey ft. Zedd.

-----

"I really don't want to go, Kirst. We've tried this like three other times and honestly, it never works and I don't want to pay for another lame ass dinner with some no name."

"Scott. Don't you have any faith in me?" He looked down at the short girl and raised one of his eyebrows.

"I'm pretty sure you said that last time and then the guy went home with our waiter instead of me."

"Okay so I messed up a few times, but I swear it will be worth it okay. Please please please go? Just this time? If this one doesn't work out either, I promise I won't ever try to set you up again."

"You said that last time too, Kitty." Scott laughed at the frown on her face and rolled his eyes. "Fine but you have to help me pick an outfit this time because I don't want to put that much effort in."

"Deal. Go shower. You smell. I'll leave your outfit on the bed."

"You better hope this one is worth it!" Scott gasped and ducked when he saw a pillow soaring in his direction. "Pick something cute!" His laugh rang through the air before Kirstie could hear the bathroom door slamming shut.

-----

Scott got to the bar early. This was customary to him. He liked to have at least one drink in him to calm his nerves before meeting the blind dates Kirstie set him up on.

It was still early and the bar was mostly empty, making it plenty easy to find a seat and order a drink. He was half way through with his glass when he saw someone slip into the seat next to him.

"Vodka tonic, please." The bartender nodded at the brunet and Scott couldn't help but let his gaze slip sideways to the slim figure next to him.

The smaller man was beautiful. His lips were full, his hair was the prettiest shade of brown, and his small frame suited him perfectly. Scott couldn't help but notice the frustrated look on that gorgeous face. He considered not saying anything, but decided to just go for it. Maybe he could cheer the man up a little before he had to leave for his date.

"Rough day?" He watched brown eyes snap to his blue ones and a small smile fell on the baritone's lips.

"More like a rough night. My friend forced me to come out here to go on a blind date with some guy I've never met and I'm just really dreading it. They never go well, and they're never who I expect them to be. I just don't see the point in doing this, but I felt like it would be shitty to stand someone up." Scott laughed and let his hand rest on the shorter man's shoulder without thinking.

"Sounds like we're both in for a rough night then! My friend set me up too. He's supposed to be here in like 10 minutes. I always come early to these blind dates to get some alcohol in my system so I can actually survive the date." When the brunet let out a laugh of his own, Scott's eyes went wide. He sounded beautiful.

"Mine is supposed to be here in ten minutes too! I do the same thing." Another round of drinks appeared in front of the pair and Scott held his glass up just a little.

"Well, here's to blind dates and alcohol. Maybe we can meet back up when our dates go to hell." The smaller man nodded and tapped his glass to Scott's before standing and checking his phone.
