Chapter 20

16 Years Later

Austin's POV

Its been 16 years since Ben left us. It was hard at first but after about 10 years, I started dating again and finally I got together with Brianna "Brie Bella" Monique. Her twin sister, Nicole Garcia-Colace, also known as Nikki Bella, has been in Paris, France for a couple of years doing stuff for WWE. Me and Brie, with Aiden, are going to Wrestlemania Week this week and we are also going to a red carpet event.

Red Carpet Event

I am coming back from the lobby of the event and I see Aiden and Brie talking. "Hey Austin. Nikki is coming back from France today and she is stopping by to see us and show us her new boyfriend." Brie says. "Okay. Maybe we should go to dinner together." I say. "That's a great idea. Nikki still probably likes formal dinners." Brie laughs.

At home. Scottsdale, AZ

Me and Brie bought a new home after I retired from music. After Ben left...i didn't really see the point of singing anymore. Brie and I are already dressed when the doorbell rings. Brie opens it and I hear "Hey Brie." "Hey Nikki." I walk out from the kitchen area and Nikki waves at me. "Hey Austin." "Hey Nikki." Then when she comes through the door, i freeze and he freezes. "Ben..." "Austin." The twins look at us both and Nikki says "I'm guessing you guys know each other?" "Yea...we used to be.." he cuts me off "married." The twins look at each other and before they say something, Aiden comes down. "Hey Austin, I was wond--" He freezes and just looks at Ben. "D..Dad." "Aiden." I see Aiden start to tear up. He runs up to Ben and they hug. "I missed you dad." Aiden cries into Ben's chest. "I missed you too Aiden." "Hey Aiden. Your going to be late for your date. " I say. "Go on baby. I'll see you later okay." He nods and they hug one more time. Aiden leaves and I say "Lets go guys."

At the restaurant

We are all eating and Ben says "I'm going to the bathroom real quick." He gets up and the twins go back to eating. I see Ben instead go outside. I whisper to Brie that i am going outside and i get up. I walk outside and I find Ben. "Ben...Why did you leave us?" "I wanted to get away from my past and to do that, I had to leave you and Aiden. I knew that you were strong enough to take care of Aiden." "Ben!! We could've left together. You should have told me that you wanted to escape. I would have been more than happy to leave with you and Aiden. I loved you." "Well you didn't love me enough when you and Alex betrayed my trust." "what are you talking about?" "You promised me when you married me that you would never become the person I once was and you lied. You started doing drugs..you cheated on me..." I just look down... He's right...I did break the promise..I wish i could take it back. "But...I'm over it..We're dating the Bellas now and I am happy just where I am." "So there is no chance of us getting back together." "I really doubt it. Austin. I know you wa.." i can't take it no more. I push my lips on to his and he hesitates but kisses back. Suddenly he pushes me away. "NO! You're tricking me. Stop. You know i will always fall for you because of your soft lips. This is your fault." He screams. He starts pacing and crying. "Ben...you know i love you right. I know i made mistakes and i know i said i want to fix them. I just want my husband back. I want our family back. When you left us. I quit everything. Music, acting, everything. You are my life and i lost my life when you left. I lost who i was. I tried giving Aiden all the parenting i could. Then one day, you know what he asked me. He asked me where his other dad was. Why was he not here? Do you know how hard that is to answer. To tell your son that his other parent left us without warning." I explain to him. "Austin i am sorry. But it was not my choice to have Aiden. Hell, i should not have been able to have Aiden in the first place. But when i did, I was scared. I knew my baby boy would be fine without me." "SO YOU ABANDONED HIM!!" "I DID WHAT WAS BEST FOR YOU AND AIDEN. Besides. Look what having one parent did for you." He turns around and walks to the car and drives off.

That night

"Hey Aust.. Where's Ben at?" Brie asks. "I don't know... we got into a fight on how he left me and Aiden and how he abandoned his baby boy." She crawls beside me on the bed and holds my hand. "Im sorry Austin."

Ben's POV

Its midnight. I am on a bridge in the park that surrounds the river. The light wind blowing my hair. The thought of ending it all right there. I climb over the railing and onto the edge. Just as i am about to let go, i hear keys drop onto the cement and a familiar voice speaks. "B..Ben." I hesitate but turn around to see my only son in tears at the sight of me. "Don't do it Ben!! Please! I just got you back. I don't want to lose you again." I crawl back over and run to him, embracing my boy in a huge hug. "Why did you leave me?" "I thought you would have a better life with me gone." "You were wrong! That night you left, I lost both of my parents. Austin broke. He blamed it on himself. He tried to commit suicide 4 times. I WAS 7 TRYING TO KEEP MY FATHER FROM COMMITTING SUICIDE. Do you know how hard that is!! Austin is a shell of his former self! When you came back, i saw a glimmer of hope reappear, the same glimmer you destroyed at dinner! He doesn't want the Bellas! He wants you!! He wants my Dad! He wants Ben!" "If he still wanted me, he wouldn't have done what he did!" I turn around just to hear something I haven't been called in years. "Eliyah Ben Mahone!" I flip around and raise my hand at him. "I told you to never to call me by that." "Well I need you to snap out of your high horse personality! But i see you won't do that. So you're dead to me. Go to Hell Ben!" He picks up his keys and walks out of view.

I am walking on the sidewalk at 12am trying to get home when i see a car run the red light and hit a yellow corvette. A few people including me run over. I run to the corvette and check if anyone was trapped. Aiden! "Help!! My son is trapped!" A few other men come over and lift the car up enough so i can pull Aiden out. "Aiden! Wake up!" I see him twitch. Aiden's eyes open and he looks at me. "Did...you save me?" "Yes." "My legs hurt. I think their broken." The medic arrives and comes over to us to see if they are broken.

We are at the hospital now and Me and Aiden were in the room waiting for them. "Well Mister Mahone, your legs are broken and it will take time for them to heal. We're going to leave you here for a few days to make sure most of the bone heals." The doc looks at me. "Are you Ben Mahone?" I cringe at the name but nod. "Are you going to stay with him for the few days he is here?" I nod. He writes something down and then leaves and some girl walks in. "Chelsea!" "Aiden! Baby are you okay?" "Yea I'm fine." She looks at me and asks "who are you?" "Thats my other dad." "So...Austin was married to him?" Aiden nods. "They are both my biological dads though. Ben gave birth to me." She nods and holds out her hand. "I'm Chelsea. Thank you for giving birth to the most amazing and handsome young man ever." I shake her hand and i see Aiden blushing. "Nice to meet you. Thank you!" I see Brie and Austin walk in about a minute later. "Aiden. What happened?" "Car wreck. Just two broken legs." Austin looks at me and asks rudely. "And Why are you here?" "Umm..I'm here to make sure my son was alright." "Well you can leave now." "Um no im not." He walks over to me and grabs my shirt. "Leave this damn place or i will make you leave." Aiden looks at us both and says "Stop It Austin!! If it wasn't for Ben, I'd be dead under my car right now. He saved me." "When i was 10, Alex and I were in a car with 3 friends when a truck hit us and a pole went through the windshield. I pulled Alex out of the way and When i woke back up, I pulled him out and the car caught fire. I..I only saved one of my friends in the back seat before the car exploded. I lost two friends that day Austin! I wasn't letting that happen to our son!" He looks at Brie and asks her to leave in which she does. He lets me down the cries into my chest. "I'm so sorry Ben." "No baby. It's my fault, I should have never left. Aiden opened my eyes after he told me i was on a high horse and that I was dead to him and to go to hell." "Can..we try again?" "Forever and Always." We kiss and we look at Aiden. He hands me his phone and the video app is on. "Record this." He whispers. "Hey Chelsea." She looks at him. "This wasn't how i planned our night to be but at least i can still spend it with you. But the thing is...I want to spend every night with you." He reaches in his jacket and grabs a small box. Oh my god! He's proposing to her. Me and Austin look at each other then back at them. Two nurses come in but say nothing. "Chelsea Ann Nite. Will you marry me?" He opens the box and she starts to cry. "Oh my gosh..Yes!! A million times Yes!" He slides the ring on her finger and they kiss. We clap.
