Chapter 3 - Change of Heart Phase 1

Ben's POV

Today Ross's school comes over for a field trip and is supposed to teach us things and tell us family stories. I know for a fact he is going to embarass me.

Once his school arrives, Ross, of course, comes to my class first. "Good morning everyone, today I am going to tell you the story of when my baby brother Ben was born."

I was surprised that the story was neutral. Not mean but not a sweet hearted story. After he moved on to another class, I got to go to the bathroom. I walk out of the room and straight down the hallway. Suddenly, someone grabs me and slams me into the wall. "Let me go!" I try to squirm loose but it doesn't work. The boy punches me in the stomach then in the chest. Blood starts to flow out of my mouth a little. Suddenly he is pushed In to a wall and someone grabs me. "Stay off my baby brother." I look up and see Ross. He pulls me into a hug and says. "I'm right here Ben. No one is going else is going to hurt you." I cry into my brother's shirt. "Do you want to go home. I can call Rydel." "Yea, I don't want to stay." "Okay." He takes his phone out and calls Rydel. "Hey Rydel, can you come and pick Ben up?" He pauses "he almost got his teeth knocked out by some kid." "Okay bye." "She's coming to pick you up." "Okay. Thank you Ross... one thing...I thought you didn't like me." He looks at me "only I can hurt you." I half smile because one I know he is going to protect me but also he could kill me. "Can I have this side of Ross for today?" "Sure, but only for today." I nod and hug him. He takes me to the office and he says "Stay here until she comes okay." "Okay." "I'll see you later Ben." He hugs me and walks out of the office.

Rydel finally comes and picks me up. "hey baby. You okay?" "Yea, I just have a little pain in my chest." "You wanna go get it checked out." "I think i just need to rest." "Okay."

Ross's POV

We are now back at my school and we are getting ready to leave. We actually have 30 minutes left but 30 minutes goes by fast. I walk to the bathroom but before i get there someone yells at me "Hey, Stupid." I keep walking and the person grabs me and spins me around. "Heard you protected your little brother today." "Leave my little brother out of this." He slams me into the wall. "Don't tell me what to do." He spits in my face. I look up with a smile on my face. "I just did." He starts punching me and I have know way to defend myself. I finally give him a fierce kick which knocks him down. I fall to my knees with blood coming out of my nose and lip.

Rydel's POV

I am sitting on the couch with Ben when Ross walks in. I see blood on his shirt and face and he has a black eye. "Ross, what happened?" "Someone started to talk about...Ben so I punched him." "You took up for your brother?" "Yea...and? He's my brother of course I was going to take up for him." "Okay." My phone starts ringing so I answer it. "Hey mom!!" "Honey, I have some bad news. We're going to be stuck here for a few weeks. A couple of tornados came through and took out the airport and a bridge." "Is everyone alright?" "Yea we're fine. How's my Ben?" "He's alright." "And Ross?" "Eh...alright I guess. I can't read him like I used to." "Are they getting along?" "Better than when you guys left." "Okay... I let you go." "Alright, love you, bye mama." "Love you too Rydel, bye." I hang up and look over at Ben who has his face in the bowl of food. I lightly move him and he wakes up. "Hmm.." "lets get you to bed." He jumps up "nooooo it's only 4 o'clock." He runs upstairs and I walk up behind him. He goes into Ross's room and I see them hugging. Ross is having a change of heart....

Nothing really to say... how is everyone...how's life
