Bey POV
"Table for five please" Gabby tells the hostess.
"Right this way" the hostess says while grabbing the menus and leading us to our table. "Alright your waitress should be right with y'all"
"Thank you" Chelle says. "I need a drink, maybe two, them damn kids are something else"
"Girl you teach fifth grade" Tyra says while laughing.
"That don't mean nothing, kids bad as hell these days" I say.
"Thank you Bey. I've never wanted to snatch up a bunch of ten year olds so bad"
"So guys me and Trevor have finally set a date" Gabby squeals while changing the subject.
Gabby and Trevor have been together for 7 years, and he finally popped the question a few months ago.
"Aww I'm so happy for you guys" Gwyn says as we all agree with her.
"Thanks. I can't wait to start planning, picking out the flowers, food, bridesmaid dresses, and of course my dress. I'm so excited" Gabby gushes.
I couldn't help but feel a sting of jealously as I play with my engagement ring. Right now I should be that happy as I plan my wedding but life got in the way.
"Aww Bey I'm sorry I forgot" Gabby says as she catches on to my somber mood and the reason behind it.
"No it's fine I'm happy for you" I say as my eyes start to water.
All of the girls get out of their seats and come comfort me as I begin crying.
"It's not fair" I cry out as they soothe me. Once I got myself together, everybody sits back down.
"Bey you gotta stop holding in all that emotion" Chelle says while rubbing my arm.
"It's hard. I have to be strong for Nahla, she already lost one parent and it feels like she has lost another one. I don't have time to be moping around" I state while wiping my tears.
"I understand that but you gotta look out for yourself as well" Gwyn says. I nod my head in response. "Has there been any changes in Shawn's progress?"
"Not much has changed, hopefully when I go today I'll hear some good news" I sigh. "Let's talk about something else" I say once I see that everybody's mood has changed.
We continued lunch and even though we moved on from the Shawn topic, my mind was still on it throughout the rest of lunch.
Once we all got back to work I headed to my office and finished what I needed for the day. As I'm packing up my bags to leave Nahla & Gabby walk through the door.
"Mommy I stayed on green all day" Nahla excitedly says while showing me her report.
"That's great! You know what this means?" I ask.
"Ice cream" she screams and I just laugh.
Shortly after Shawn's accident Nahla's behavior started getting a little out of control, and she was really bad in daycare. So to try and turn that around I would let her have ice cream whenever she gets a green card. So far it has worked.
