I took a walk down memory lane,
and stumbled upon a box.
It was filled with my son's possessions,
and it was unlocked.A golden teddy bear named Joe,
his best friend since he'd been two.
A warm cotton blanket
colored a bright shade of blue.A picture of us at the park,
the day we first found out
that my son had an incurable disease,
and things began heading south.The adoption papers he found in my room,
the ones he kept and always read.
He was barely even a teen,
yet he was in over his head.I found his research papers
for the cure he couldn't fine.
The many empty pill capsules
that fast forwarded us through time.I'm sorry for letting you down
and for letting you meet such a fate.
I worked and found the cure, my son,
but I guess I was too late...
