"A pinch of nightshade, a dash of toad's breath.. There."  You wiped your brow with your long sleeve.  "Oh Thank You Y/N!"  The two witches said, giving you a flash of their yellow teeth.  You smiled back.  "Anything to help my fellow magic users.  The witches chuckled.  "A fine enchantress like you should be out celebrating the party not holed up in your tower like you do every year!"  One of the witches pointed out the window to the center of town where you could hear faint music.  "No doubt Jack will be there."  The other said.  The two sighed and looked out the window longingly.  You stood behind them, confused.
You could never understand how the pumpkin king had become so popular in Halloween Town.  He was simply a monster, nothing more nothing less.  What made him any different that the rest of you?  "Well I'll think about it."  You said, knowing it was the only thing that would appease the witches minds.  "Alright then.  Off we go dear!"  They grabbed the broom and the potion and hopped out onto the windowsill.  With a cackle, they disappeared into the night.
Walking over to your desk, you pushed aside your piles of books to make space.  In the process, a bottle of silver liquid labeled moonlight drip dropped to the floor and smashed, shards of glass going everywhere.  You gasped and leaned down to pick up the shards with your long nails.  As you picked up the shards, your eyes became drawn to your reflection in the silver liquid.  The moonlight drip had pooled directly in the moonlight, causing it to act like a mirror.
In relation to other monsters, you were far from terrifying.  You pointed tongue was long enough to reach to your yellow eyes and your hair moved on it's own.  Like thousands of snakes.  You set down the glass and touched your left cheek, feeling the soft scales as they ran down to your neck.  If it weren't for those scales you might be able to bled in with the human world.  Shaking your head, you picked up the glass again and stood up.  "I'll have to go get more I suppose."  You mumbled to no one in particular.  Picking up a sponge, you quickly cast a spell, turning the inanimate object into a wriggling creature.  "Clean this up."  You said, pointing at the silver puddle.  The sponge quickly hopped out of your hand and onto the ground, making it's way over to the mess.
Seeing your spell was a success, you nodded approvingly and walked over to you desk.  You quickly grabbed an empty vial and went over to the small cage in the corner.  "Come on sweetheart."  You said to the small bat inside.  "Time to help mother."  You said to it.  The bat hopped around a moment in excitement as you opened its cage door.  You waited until the bat flew to the window before casting your spell.  In a flash of golden light, the bat transformed, fusing with your back to form a ginormous pair of wings.
Climbing to the windowsill, you threw your legs over the edge and pushed yourself out into the night.  The wind rushed by your face as you circled around your tower.  "Alright.  Off to the graveyard."  You said to yourself.  The graveyard was the only place that the spell to collect moonlights drip would work.  You dived down, just making it over the black gates before you pulled up and landed gracefully without a sound.
Walking over the dead leaves, you made your way over to the curled hill.   There, you released your spell on the bat.  "Thank You darling."  You said.  The bat squeaked and perched itself under the bottom on your cloak's hood.  Turning to the moon, you began to mumble your spell.  Slowly, some moonlight began to bend it's way towards you, turning more silver and solid as it made its way into the container you had payed out at your feet.  Soon the spell was over and you bottled the vial and placed it in your cloak.
"That was fabulous."  A voice said behind you.  Your head shot up as you turned around.  You hadn't expected anyone to leave the celebration so you were completely off guard.  "Hello Jack."  You said, watching the skeleton make his way up to you.  His ghost dog, Zero, followed close behind him.  "What are you doing so far away from the festivities?"  You asked him.  "Surely you are one of the main events."  Jack sighed and looked up at the moon.  He looked far from terrifying Jack you knew.  He looked almost sad.  "Do you ever wonder..."  He began.  "If there is more to life than scaring children and adults alike?  Is there more to shriveled heads that scream in the night?"
Jack sat down and buried his head in his hands.  You watched him a moment, before sitting down next to him.  "I don't quite know what's out there Jack.  None of us do.  We've never had to look far for frights."  Jack remained silent and you looked out past the pumpkin patch.  You reached out and touched his arm.  "If you want we could go look for more?"  Jack lifted up his head.  You, seeing a positive reaction, quickly stood up and held out your hand.  Using your other hand, you quickly cast a spell, unraveling the curled hill down into a bridge to the woods.  "Come on Jack.  If you want to go see more then we can.  I'll help you.  After all, what are friends for?"
Jack smiled.  "Y/N.  In all my years here I have never met a stranger monster than you.  I gladly accept."  He said, taking your hand.  As you helped him up, Jack quickly picked a almost dead flower and presented it to you.  Holding up your chin, he tucked it behind your ear with his bony hand.  You smiled softly.  "I'm afraid it is you who is far stranger than I."  You said.  Jack smiled.  "Then I guess that makes up two of a kind."  Then, pulling you along, Jack led the way down the hill and into the woods where the two of your would soon discover the land of ice and snow.

A/N: Hello Readers!
Here is a Halloween special since it's that time of year.  I had some free time so I thought it might be a good idea to do a holiday themed one-shot.  If you look at the top of the story, I tried drawing what you looked like but I'm not very good.  I think you can get the general idea though.  Hope you all have a fabulous Halloween filled with lighthearted scares and sugar!
