Walls (Bucky Barnes)

Chapter 18

Maddie's POV

"Ok we'll radio you if we need you." I said to the backup team as Bucky and I walked off the helicarrier. "Maddie, you get the files and I'll make sure everything is clear. Sound good?" Bucky asked as we neared the HYDRA base. "Yeah. But we need to take out all the agents and destroy the base once we've got the files." I said and then signalled that we had to be quiet as we walked to the base and took down the agents guarding it.

I was in tech room getting all the files on the USB stick, when I heard a loud scream and multiple bullets being fired. I started to panic about Bucky, because he doesn't use guns, he usually does hand-to-hand combat. I quickly got the rest of the files and ran to the door of the room. I followed the noise and took out any HYDRA agents that I passed. I finally saw Bucky surrounded by at least 10 agents. "Hello Winter. How nice of you to drop by." They said and I could see Bucky trying to fight everything they were saying. "Hey Soldier!" I said getting their attention, soon all of the agents eyes were in me. "Oh, Winter brought a friend. How nice." They said tauntingly. "I'm not his friend. I'm his partner." I said and stepped closer to the agent talking to me. "In the streets of sheets?" He said and leaned closer. "Streets." I said innocently. "Then I can do this." He said and pressed his lips to mine. I didn't respond instead I pulled a knife and stabbed him in the stomach quickly removing it, so the blood poured out and he fell to the floor. "Now, who else wants to mess with my partner and I?" I asked and they backed away. But Bucky was quick to respond once I nodded my head and began to knock out agent after agent.

We walked out the base and felt the explosion on our backs. One of the agents set it to explode but Bucky and I were quick to get out. We got on the helicarrier and it began to take off. It was silent as the other agents were checking the files on the USB stick. It was all silent when Bucky moved and sat next to me. "Why did you let him kiss you?" He asked. "Because men are easy to distract and it made it a lot easier to take out everyone. But seriously I get no thank you for saving your ass?" I said as I laughed. "I would've been fine without. You let him kiss you. They might've taken advantage of you Maddie.  And you just let him kiss you." He said and turned to me. "Yes Bucky I did. It was for the mission and I wouldn't have let them do anything. But why do you care? I told you we aren't friends. And you're the one to blame." I said and immediately regretted it, I still liked him even after everything we went through. I put my headphones in. "Because I love you." I thought I heard him whisper.
