Bucky's POV
I returned from the mission with a lot of bruises and cuts but I didn't care. The first thing I did was go and see Maddie. I ran into the room and saw Bruce standing over her with others next to her. I ran over and screamed but I was pushed away by someone I didn't know. "Bucky calm, we need space." Bruce told me and I stepped back and out of the room.
I had been waiting hours to hear something from Bruce when he finally returned. "Bucky, you can go in but please don't be upset by what you see." He said and I pushed past him and ran to the room, what I saw was completely unexpected. "Bucky, hey." Maddie said smiling and beckoning me over. "I'm so sorry. I love you and I hurt you and I'm sorry." I said and ran over to her in tears and hugging her. "I love you too. And it wasn't your fault you didn't mean to. Please don't be so hard on yourself." She said and kissed me. Bruce came back in and checked her vitals. "Bucky can I speak to you outside quickly, please?" Bruce asked me. I nodded and walked out with him.
"Buck, I know it seems like she's gotten better but she's not. She'll get worse and I don't want you getting your hopes up." He said. "No, she's fine I mean she's up and speaking. She'll be fine." I said and ran back into her room.
I was sat next to Maddie and watched her eyes close. I thought she was just sleeping but then I heard it.
Beep...Beep...Beep..Beep.Beep
It was getting quicker and louder and everyone was running in her room again. I was pushed out and I heard them yelling things. Then I heard something I hoped I wouldn't be hearing for a while. And fell down in tears.
