Chapter Ten

Rydel's POV

She was gonna do it. The pain had been eating away at her. She had to tell someone about what happened. She needed help. Riker was her window of opportunity.

She took a deep breath and started from the beginning.

"I don't really remember much from that day; but what I do remember is horrifying. He had shot Ratliff. He was laying in a pool of his own blood."

Riker nodded. He already knew this part, he just wanted to know what Calum had done to her.

"I tried to help him, but Calum pulled me back. He threw me against the wall. He was choking me, telling me that if I didn't cooperate he would kill me too. So I did what he told me to do. I went with him to his car, and he threw me in the trunk. Then we drove to the mill"

She took a deep breath. That was the easy part; now is when the real pain begins.

"He locked me in a room, left me there. I didn't know where he would go, but I was all alone most of the time. Wherever he went, he would always return angry; and he would take it out on me. He hit me, and threw me against the wall. One time he used a crow bar..."

"He hit you with a crow bar?!" Riker asked, his voice raising.

She nodded, holding her hand to her stomach where she had felt the steel pound against her skin.

Riker got up and walked to the window. He was fuming. She didn't know if she should continue.

"That's all he did Riker" she said, "That's all he did to me, and I'm fine"

He turned around, facing her.

"That's not it, I can tell" he said.

"No that's it Riker, that's all that happened" she argued, hoping he would drop the subject.

"Rydel I've known you your whole life. I know when you're trying to hide something. Save us both the energy and just tell me what's up"

She broke down and cried. He knew. She had to tell him. She wanted to keep it all a secret, no one had to know. But know, Riker would know.

"Delly" he said, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Do you know what these are?" She asked, picking up her bottle of pill the doctor had prescribed her

"They're your pain pills" he responded.

She shook her head. "No they're not. That's what I wanted you to think they were."

He looked shocked.

"Well then what are they?" He asked her.

"They're prenatal vitamins" she whispered, "Riker I'm pregnant"
