Chapter Seven

Riker's POV

His dad's face said it all. Fear. Sorrow. Worry.

"Thank you" he said before putting the phone back down. He looked up at his family with a blank expression on his face.

"Who was it dad?" Ryland asked.

"It was the hospital" Mark said, his eyes filling with tears.

"Is it Rydel? Is she okay?" Rocky asked, frantic for an answer.

Their dad looked up at them, a single tear escaped his eye.

"She woke up" he smiled, his voice barely above a whisper.

Riker almost didn't hear him. He had to let the news sink in before he could react.

Their mom was speechless. She started laughing like she did in awkward moments.

"Thank God" she smiled, laughing as tears spilled out of her eyes.

Rocky and Ryland talked among themselves, clearly ecstatic that their sister had woken up. A big smile plastered across their faces.

Ross sat and cried; small, happy tears falling from his brown eyes. Everyone was beyond excited that Rydel had woken up.

Riker excused himself from the table and walked up the stairs to his sister's room. He let himself in and laid down on her bed.

He cried into her pillow, the first happy tears he had cried in a while. Because now everything seemed like it was finally getting better.

She had woken up. The girl who was never supposed to live. The girl who had fallen into a coma after suffering life threatening injuries, had woken up.

It was a miracle. His birthday wish had come true; even if it was a few weeks late.

When he finished crying, he pulled out his phone and called Ratliff. He wanted to deliver the news himself.

Outside, the rain that had been falling for days at a time finally stopped. Now, a bright rainbow crossed the sky as the sun finally came out to see the world.

He knew his life was finally looking up. The band would be complete again. He could actually smile now and not feel guilty for causing so much pain.

He stared up at the ceiling of Rydel'a room and smiled. For the first time in almost sixth months, he had a reason to be happy.

This is horrible I know, I was in and out of the hospital again last week so I'm very sorry for not updating sooner!

But now that Delly is awake, I can start some normal dialogue! And Rydellington will start up soon!!
