Hey guy's, this is a little different and it's because I'm thinking of actually publishing an Uncharted story that I've already started writing on another website, it's going to be very different from the other and wanted to know what you think of the introduction to it. I know it's not very exciting and doesn't have much going on but it'd be nice for some opinions. Thanks!

Nathan stands at my front door with a smile as it opens wider and I curiously peer out at him, it's been around a year since I last saw him. I take the few seconds of silence between us to look at him, I notice a few grey hairs starting to appear and his wrinkles are more prominent.

"Long time no see, huh" I comment with a half smile myself.

"Ava, we need to talk. It's important" his tone is serious and I see the look in his eyes as he speaks but I doubt this conversation is worth having. "It depends what it's about." I tell him crossing my arms feeling the cold making it's way inside the house.

"It won't be another Yemen..." he trails off but I shake my head with a light laugh "I'm not going on another wild goose chase across the world."

I turn away from the door leaving it half open for him to follow me inside, passing the entrance to the living room and the stairs leading to the top half of the house I head for the kitchen. He walks in just as I take a seat at the table pulling my jumper over the top of my knees curling up in the chair, he sits across from me.

"Okay, this is going to sound crazy but hear me out and then i'll leave you to think about it..." he starts and already I'm intrigued. I watch as the corners of his mouth twitch into a smile "I know it's been fifteen years and I never wanted to speak about Sam again-"

I cut him off with a sigh "Could you get to the point?"

"Sam's alive." he blurts leaning back in his seat with a huff, seems like he really wanted to drag out the surprise. I slowly nod my head running my finger along a small gap in the table, it's quite the news and shocking even though I'm not reacting physically to it.

"He's alive. Why is that important?" I regret asking the second it comes out of my mouth, I pause to look him in the eyes too and he averts his gaze looking down to his hands. "Henry Avery, the reason he spent fifteen years in jail while we had the time of our lives forgetting all about him." he states.

I gulp "I wouldn't say it was the time of our lives but sure" I breathe.

"Sam still hasn't given up on the treasure, we have a lead, a plan and everyone- apart from one thing..." his voice fades and I nod with a smile understanding what he's getting at.

"I bet that one thing is me, right?"

Nathan nods his eyes pleading with me for help but I don't know why he needs me. "I was ten when he died, Nate, what on earth would you need me for?" I ask confused.

"Avery-"

"Ava." I correct before he can continue and it makes him smile "you were named after a famous pirate, all your life you've learnt about him and after Sam died Sully told me what you did-" the mention of my fathers name makes me shift uncomfortably, it's been years since I spoke to him and every time his name is spoken I'm flooded with guilt.

I hold a hand up to speak making him stop mid sentence. "Sam shouldn't have died for nothing, stupid teenage me spent those years back home trying to find something, an overlooked clue, a mistranslated word or document but everything lead to a dead end. I only gave up when I came back here because we got thrown into other shitty work, then after everything that happened I decided it was enough. I'm glad he's alive Nathan, I am but it doesn't concern me."

"Fifteen years ago you helped us start this..." he leans over to me getting my full attention "help us finish it, we need you and all the information you have on this entire thing."

"I will help, on one condition."

He perks up like he was expecting me to put up a tougher fight and it makes me smile seeing how happy he is to have me on board, it reminds me of old times. "If it gets too dangerous, I want out and won't hesitate to leave without telling anyone. I refuse to go through something like before ever again." I tell him loud and clear.

"Understood. I'm shocked you even said yes." he chuckles.

"Sam's alive and a free man, you have a lead and in my head is all the information you need on our beloved pirate and his associates" I smile feeling as though this could be an easy job from this point onward, there's no prison to lurk in and it's just following a lead, probably no one to compete against either since that rich asshole who was working with them at first has occupied himself with a dead end in Scotland. I feel like I owe it to the older Drake too, he was presumed dead by his remaining family and spent time in jail for someone else's crime, he deserves to go on one adventure and finish what caused all this shit in the first place.

After a few moments of going over it in my head knowing it's going to be okay I remember how we've both been out of the game for a while. "Are you only doing this because he's your brother and feel obliged to?" I question knowing this can't have been Nathan's idea, he wanted to live a normal life with the woman he loves who also didn't want to deal with the shit that comes with being a explorer.

"Fifteen years because of me." is all he says.

"It wasn't your fault" I say but he doesn't seem convinced "I should've looked harder but I gave up and moved on too fast. I want him to know what it's like to reach the end of something, to have that feeling..." he trails off his eyes staring at the wall behind me and it makes me smile hearing him want his older brother to experience what we did, and this could be Sam's only chance. I would like to know what Henry Avery was up to myself, I was named after him so I might as well learn what became of the man.

"I'm on board one hundred percent, one last time" I nod feeling some sort of excitement.

"It'll be the whole gang back together" he jokes and we both laugh softly until I realize what that means "I will probably have to see my dad again, does he know?"

Nathan nods "I told him before I came here, he can't wait to see you again and I can tell he misses you" the words make my stomach twist and I look down "he understands though, he knew staying in the game would mean losing you. It was something you both decided." he continues to which I simply nod wondering if thing's will be okay between us, we've spoken a few times over the years but not seen each other at all.

"Elena joining us?" I quickly change the conversation not wanting to dwell and I hit a nerve as he sighs shaking his head. "Uh not for this one." there's something wrong but I don't want to intrude on his personal life.

Nathan stands up "pack a bag and I'm driving you to the airport." he claps his hands together.

"What?" I laugh standing up too.

"Oh, Sully's waiting for you. Italy is where you're headed, he'll fill you in on the plane. Sam and myself will arrive after but we're splitting up for the first part of the plan, trust me." he nods with that smile that lets me knows he's got this all figured out.

"You're lucky I do, better not make me regret it."
