Why is She Broken?

Chapter 10: After

Beep, beep, beep, is all the sound that is going on in Payton's hospital room.
Nobody is in there at the moment.
Payton wakes up and starts having a panic attack. She realizes why she is there. She remembers what happened. She has flashbacks of everything. Her dad, her blade, Alex. She thinks to herself.
Oh no. What am I gonna say to everyone? Why didn't my life end like I wanted? Alex.. Oh no.. He's the one that saved me.. He saw my lieing there with blood leaving from my wrists. He saw me in my bra and panties.. Oh my goodness. I can't believe this. Her face turns into a deep red.
There was a small knock on the door and it opens very slowly. Payton's mother, Braxli, pops her head in the door. Payton can tell she
has been crying, her eyes are red and puffy and she still had tears in her eyes. She gasps and runs over to Payton and hugs her very tight. She starts crying and talks softly to Payton.
"Pay, sweetheart. How are you feeling honey?"
"Hi Mum. I'm fine I guess." Payton starts tearing up.
"That's good. I love you." Her mother says with a sigh.
"How long was I asleep?"
"Sweetheart it's been almost a week."
"A week!?" She exclaimed.
"It's okay. Calm down. You came in here Thursday and it's the following Tuesday."
"Oh my god." She leans back into her bed.
"Sweetheart. Two people have came to see you I like five ti--." Braxli is interrupted by the door opening.
JoJo peeks in and notices Payton is awake. JoJo pulls Alex in the room which you can tell they both have been crying. JoJo runs over to
Payton and hugs her super tight and bursts into tears. Alex starts crying once again. He holds Payton's hand.
"Payton, who are these people?" Braxli asks.
"Mum it's JoJo. Remember her? This is Alex. We just became friends this year." Payton replies.
"JoJo? Oh my gosh! You look so different. I barely recognized you!" She gets up and hugs JoJo.
"Hey second mum." JoJo hugs her back.
"How are you? Why are you back? How is Natasha?" Braxli asks.
"I'm okay. I came back for Pay. My mother is fine also."
They let go of each other and look back at Alex and Payton. Alex is holding her hand, stroking the top of her hand with his thumb. They are just staring at each other. Someone knocks on the door.
"Is this Payton's room?" A female voice asks.
"Yes it is. Who are you?" Payton asks.
"It is Violet. Violet Hayden."
"Violet? You can come in." Payton replies as Violet walks into the room.
      "Hey Payton. How are you?"
"I'm okay. Why are you here?" Payton replies.
"I'm sorry about ignoring you throughout high school. I want to be your friend. Along with JoJo and Alex. If that's okay."
"You don't even know Payton." JoJo replies.
"That's what I'm saying. I want to be friends with you guys. I have no friends. That's why I'm here and I know Payton. We have a lot of classes together." Violet exclaims.
"Okay. Yeah we can be friends." Payton looks at JoJo and Alex.
"Okay." Alex says.
"Okay." JoJo replies.
"Well it looks like our group is getting bigger." Payton says.
Everyone chuckles but then is gets really silent. A doctor walks in and tells all the visitors that they have to go so he can do some tests. They all say there goodbyes as they walk out of the room. The doctor tells Payton to get some rest. Payton falls asleep very slowly.
She is consumed by darkness.
