Why is She Broken?

Chapter 13: Michi & Alex

     It's been about three weeks and Payton keeps talking to her friend online. They know that they are falling for each other. They still don't know each others names or where they both live. Michi is 17, turning 18 in September. They continue talking to Michi over the phone and on Xbox. Until one day he texts her.

     "Hey Monkey, you busy?"

    "Nope I all yours. What's up?"

    "Me and you are getting really close and it's great and all but.."

    "What's going on?"

    "I like someone else. I don't know if you like me for sure but if you do I'm sorry."

    "Oh um okay.. It is okay I guess.."

    "I doubt you wanna talk to me still but we can be friends."

    "Yeah we can be friends:)."

    "Okay good. I don't wanna lose you."

    "You won't but I gotta go. Talk to you later."

    "Oh okay. See ya."

  Peyton sets down her phone and just stares at her ceiling wondering why she keeps getting herself into these situations. She can't even cry at this point. She just lays there in shock. She looks at her wrists and runs her finger down her scars. She just puts her headphones on and listens to music. She ends up falling asleep until JoJo calls her, stopping her music. She answers the phone.

    "Hello, Pay?" She says sounding uneasy.

    "Hey Jo. Is everything okay?" Payton replies.

    "No, no, no, no, nothing is okay."

    "What happened? What's wrong?" 

    "I hate everything! I did something so stupid!"

    "Calm down. Breathe. What happened?"

    "Alex. Alex. Alex. Alex."

    "What did he do?"

    "I can't say.. You'll hate us.."

    "Jo. Now. Spill it."

    "We were at his house and we had a few drinks and stuff happened.."

    "I thought he was dating Violet?"

    "No, she broke up with him."

    "Oh. Well what happened between you."

    "We kissed and it went to far. But I stopped him from doing anything to serious."

    "Okay. What all happened?"

    "Well he kissed me then we started making out. Then he took off his shirt and I took off mine. His hand started going in my pants and I was so out of it that I let him. H..he fingered me. He tried to keep going but I said to stop."

    "Oh my god. Jo. I'm so sorry. He shouldn't have done that while you were like that."

    "....Are you mad at me or us I should say?"

    "I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at him for doing that to you. I should have came that night since you invited me. I'm so so so so sorry."

    "It's fine Payton. It's not your fault. Do you think I could spend the night tonight?"

    "Yes , of course."

    "Okay I'll be over in a minute."

    "Okay. Love you Jo."

    "Love you too Pay."

  She hangs up the phone and her music starts playing again. She gets up and goes and takes a shower with her music blasting on her Bluetooth speakers. She feels all the warmth of the water trickle down her scars. Once she's done she turns the water on and listens to Falling In Reverse. She gets dressed and does her usual make up and a few minutes after she hears a knock at the door. She rushes down to greet her friend. She opens the door and it's Alex. She looks at him in disgust and begins to close the door when he puts his foot in between the door and the wall. Alex talks quietly.

    "Pay, please let me in. We need to talk."

    "No we don't! I know what you did! You know I like you and you do that to my best friend and date my other! Like what the actual fuck Alex!" Payton yells as she opens the door.

    "Payton. I love you, okay. More then anyone in this god forsaken world. I've been so afraid of telling you because I thought you didn't like me. I know what I've done was very, very wrong of me. I'm so damn sorry." He finishes as he wraps his arms around her waist and kisses her.

  In response Payton put her arms around his neck and kissed him back. She pulled away and started crying.

    "No! You can't do that to me! You've hurt me enough!" She exclaims.

    "Payton. Please. I love you so damn much. I can't live without you." He starts tearing up as he finishes.

    "You can't keep hurting me like this! It's not fair! I'm already hurt enough, I don't need make people hurting me!" 

    "Payton.. Please.. I love you so much.. I can't loose you.." He says crying slightly in a very soft voice. "Please."

   Payton starts crying even more and looks down. "You should go."

    "No. I'm not leaving. Not until you forgive me."

    "JoJo is going to be here soon. Leave. Now."

    "Bu--" Payton cuts him off.

    "Alex, just go please. We will talk later."

    "Okay. Fine." 

  He walks down from the porch and gets in his truck and drives off.
