Reader's P.O.V.
I was prepared for the birth of the baby but I didn't expect the baby to come late into the night. I was so in shock that I kind of froze for a minute and forgot what to do. Lucy's was never one to show that she was in pain and she was straining to keep in her muffled screams. I didn't have time to stand by idly and snapped back into reality. Not only was I about to be a father but I was also s temporary male midwife. No time to waste and with this thought, scooped Lucy up and into the bathroom we went.
Time skip......
I don' know how long, Lucy and I were in the bathroom. We could have been in there for days for all I knew. Still, I was worried that Lucy was in so much pain. She was doing all the work while all I could do is watch her suffer, push and huff. I held her hand the entire time, having an even deeper respect for mothers. She smiled at me as sweat rolled off of her head, I told she was doing fine as I kissed her head. She really was doing alright. Everything looked like it was going well so Lucy and the baby would be ok.
After at least 15 more minutes, I could see the head of the baby and carefully got ready to grab the little thing. Lucy gave one last finally push before the baby was delivered. At the same time, I noticed that Lucy's tummy went down just slightly since the baby was no longer inside. Though I knew what to expect, a baby girl with pink hair and horns but even I was shocked to find out the baby looked nothing like what we expected. It was....a boy? I wasn't sure if a diclonious's horns were visible at birth or appeared as the child grew but they were present at this moment, though very tiny like they were barely even on the baby's head at all. His hair wasn't pink but (hair color) like mine with Lucy's eyes. As I observed the infant in my hands, I wrapped him in a nice, fluffy, warm blanket as his shrilling cries filled our home.
Lucy's seemed confused as well and although she was exhausted, she refused to rest and anxiously gazed at the baby, unable to contain her contentment and curious. At first glance, I saw she was confused at the baby's appearance as well but her face quickly faded into the expression of a other who's had her first child. I wasted no time to place the baby in her arms, briefly showing her how to properly hold him. Lucy looked down at him lovingly. She still couldn't believe something this precious could come out of her. She cooed at the baby and placed a finger in his hand as he cried. I let her name him and we came up with (baby's name). I thought it was a wonderful name.
Lucy had began to breast feed him as went around cleaning up after the birth. Lucy used her vectors to move around as she carried (baby's name). It looked like she was floating. I stood by her side when she finished feeding (baby's name) and popped a pacifier into his mouth after getting him cleaned and dress. We made sure to keep him warm as we placed him in his crib. Lucy and I were still new at this and since (baby's name) was just born, we didn't hold him much. He was so soft and weak that we didn't want to risk hurting him. We stood by his crib and watched him sleep for ages. For the next week, we let him gain a little more strength before handling him more. In that week we noticed that when he was fussy, we could calm him down by playing the music box. He stopped crying right away and listened to the tune until he fell asleep looking at his mobile. I knew he loved it, Lucy practically played music her entire pregnancy so there's no surprise out baby was interested in it.
Lucy loved that early trait about him and although she was afraid to handle him wrong, she often used her vectors to handle him, like picking him up, changing his diaper or transporting him to different areas around the house. I had to get used to seeing (baby's name) floating around the house but he seemed to enjoy being off the ground and often flailed his limbs around. I ended up buying Lucy a baby carrier and as a dad, I admit that it's actually comfortable to wear and I can watch (baby's name) being happy about having his own personal means of a transportation and a mobile bed. Who knew having a baby around could be so much fun. It was great with Lucy and me but we often got bored but with a baby there was always things to do like changing a diaper, feeding, playing and regulating nap times and the like. (baby's name) drooled a lot but loved his pacifier. I was excited to teach him so many things when he was older. He was special and I knew we had made a very unique baby and the only special diclonious of his kind....just like his mom. Lucy had bonded with (Y/n) very strongly and didn't let him out of her sight. I made sure to take picture of Lucy and (baby's name) when she slept with him gently tucked in her arms.
(baby's name) was so cute and I found myself staring at him most of the day. He had a habit of farting and then smiling about it but he is a boy. I could never forget his baby smell. Is that why some animals ate their babies? Because they smelled so good. Never the less we both loved (Y/n) even though his birth was a rare one. He brightened our lives and to tell you the truth, even if he did grow up, only to kill us at 3 years old, I wouldn't be mad and I wouldn't mind. It wouldn't be his fault. All we want to do is watch over him in life and in death. We'll take as many pictures and create as many memories as we could while we had time and whatever happens, we won't regret anything.
